Default Will i need brakes and rotors

I had my 2007 Fit for one year now (October 15th) When i brake hard i hear like a wind down noise almost like metal on metal. I know i have a B1 coming up soon. Is it time for Brakes & Rotors already.??

Jeeze it only takes about 1/2 a second to look at your front rotors and pads through the wheel holes (don't even have to take the wheel off) and see if they are worn down. There is no need to wait until your hear metal grinding before checking.

Jeeze claymore you should change your nic name to hawk eye. I can’t see the rotors and pads through the wheel holes enough to make a call how much wear is left on the pads and rotors
I just want to know with a little over 7,000 km's is it possible a Honda Fit might need Pads and rotors. I do have a noise coming from my brakes when i apply hard. I'll be taking my Fit in for its B 1 in a few weeks.

Tell me what's left. Here's my wheel http://www.flickr.com/photos/13202289@N02/

yes you need new breaks, you can clearly see that by looking through the holes.

i hate these people that don't bother putting any effort in to things he'd rather us give him an answer then taking 10 minuets to take the wheel off. inspect the rotor, put your head in the wheel well and look to see how much pad is left.

while the car is jacked up put your head under it and let it down.

Nope!!!! Smart ***(NSfit) i don't need brakes right now. Had them looked at today. The noise is just some Honda Fit B/S that i have to deal with.
So does everybody on this site have perfect health?? My back is gone. Work accident back in the 70's. So i,m not taking a wheel off to see if i need brakes.
Would be nice to get a non smart *** comment from this site.

hmm noise from the front when braking hard have you checked both pads and rotors?

you can go take it to a dealer and have one of the techs go and see what the problem can be.

and dont listen to these guys. most people on honda tech are ***'s.

has anyone noticed if you hit the brakes to hard they grind really pad and feel like they skip?

i think the car's only draw back is the lack of brakes on the car, you could drive it so much faster if i had better brakes

thats why i cant wait to get some rims and j's big brake kit

What a chore to have youngins' give harsh answers eh mate? Honestly...jack up the front end and take off both wheels. Turn brakes by hand and find anything that is binding. That wind down noise you are asking is hard to picture mentally without any further information. Also check your wheel bearings in case.

NSfit...calm down and go buy yourself some

djBuddah - You should look into investing in better tires first. You would be surprise how much traction (for go and braking) you will gain from stickier rubber. THEN look into brakes if that does not satisfy your needs. That skipping is ABS activating...it does that so lock up doesn't occur.

maybe if you read my thread i said abs is going off i have it happen to me all day its fun at times when i know its going to happen

if you read the op respond he sys that he is phyiscally unable to take the wheels off thats why he should just go see a tech if hes not willing to do anything his own self.

Hey, Well I went to the Honda dealership. They said I had 60% front 80% Back (Pad ware). As for the noise they don't know what the cause is.
They said when I come back for next oil change replace front pads and take it from there. I guess God/Honda dealership service dept. has spoken.
I could get them to troubleshoot the problem at $80 hr.
and come to the same conclusion 3 or $400 later..or just hang my head and go for a beer.
Anyway guys thanks for the replies..Take off eh"

When you traffic stopped ahead, make sure you coast, it will help you in the end. Now go do the right thing!

my brakes were worn flat at 17000 miles.......i didn't think i drove that hard but dang..i don't know if the original pads are kind of soft or what, but i have 30000 on it now, im afraid im going to have to do it again.. too expensive to do every 20k or so.

I have the same exact problem. I got it checked out and the brakes and pads were fine. I just started braking a little softer and I don't hear that winding down noise anymore

Just TIE on the brakes
