Default Test drove a Fit today. Dont know if I can get used to the low power. Any input.

I test drove a Fit today and I liked a lot of things about the car.

The car feels fine in city driving, but when it came time to get on an
on ramp the Fit did not have much go.

I understand that this is a commuter car and is not meant to be fast.

I wanted some input from members that swiched from a faster car such as
B series powered Civic to a Fit.

Do you get used to the low powered Fit? Or does it get more and more frustraiting as time goes on?

I switched from a '05 STi to a Fit. It's no secret that's a huge stepdown in power. Sometimes I drove my '93 SE-R, but the motor blew on that (it ran low 15's in the 1/4). Is the Fit slow? Yes. Do I care? No. It would be easy to get into trouble with the STi. I'd reach speeds of 80-100 after interstate on ramps without even trying.

I'm 32 now and my needs have changed. The Fit is very practical, yet it handles excellent...which makes it fun. It has enough low range to get around fine in the city. I just have to accelerate a lot sooner on the highway to pass other vehicles.

I've owned the car for 2 months now and I'm happy. I miss the STi, but the Fit is so much better for me right now. It gets better gas mileage, I can haul a lot more (my mt. bike fits INSIDE easily) and my payments/insurance are a lot less. It makes a great daily driver.

I'll swap another engine into my SE-R for my "fun" car and I'm also building a '69 Camaro. I can see myself owning the Fit for a long time though.

Oddly enough, I sold a fairly heavily modified WRX and bought my Fit. Yes, the Fit isn't as fast as the WRX was, but the WRX wasn't as fast as some cars also. It's all relative. There are always faster cars, and there are always slower cars.

As someone wiser than I said, "It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow."

I bought my fit when premium hit $3.29/gal. I happen to have an 04 STi. Since I got the Fit, I haven't driven the suby at all. In fact I have put only 600 miles on the Suby in the last five months. The Suby gets me stopped by the law, and entices me to drive too fast. After 6 months of having the Fit, the Sti is for sale.

You definately get used to it.

I have a Scion xB and it also only has barley over 100 hp. I had a Prelude SH.

I commute to work 24 miles a day, mostly city streets. There is no where I could use a ton of power anyways. Plus, it's great on gas (like the Fit).

Every now and then I get the urge to have more power. Then I see 92 octane is $3 a gallon.

I have a MT Fit and my other car is a decently modified ITR. The 'lack' of power in the Fit does not bother me at all. I guess I drive a bit more sanely in the Fit, but it is still very fun to drive. I have no problems merging or running 80+ on the hwy at all.

This also has the effect of making the ITR feel faster when I drive it LOL

it's a peppy lil motor. you get used to driving a certain way after a while. i have a titan and i drive it slow except for onramps otherwise mpg would be worse than it is. of course turns arent the same either.

Bingo. Just like it's easy to get used to a fast car, it's also very easy to get used to a slower car. In my case, my daily driver has a whopping 70hp. Some how it gets me to work just fine and can still cruise comfortably at 70-75mph (70-75mph is the same w/ 70hp as it is w/ 300hp).

On the rare occasion my Si come out of the garage, the extra 100hp is a LOT more fun, but I tend to drive more "assertively" as well.

Overall, I don't miss the power. I'm not waying power isn't good (it is), but for a commuter car, it's not always a 'must have'.

The convenience of a hatch is immeasurable. The practicality of the Fit is the main issue I'm pushing for my wife so we'll buy a Fit for her next car.

Damn, I'm getting old.

I'm switching from my b-series Crx to a Fit, But haven't gotten my Fit yet. I'm not worried about it being slower though.

the power isn't the best but i drove the fit from an offramp at 40mph without a prob. i do have 17x7.5 inch wheels now but still that's awesome

If you are power hungry? K20 swap. =P But I rode in my friend's Fit and rode in my bro's RSX Base with SRI. and it is a big diff. All stock. But gotta say, Fit is a cool car to have. Maybe with turbo(HKS) and some intake header and exhaust. It can kick butt for some cars.

Fit review:10/10 for those who do not care about power. But gotta love it when you can acutally rev it high without carring about gas

If you want a faster car, then don't buy a Fit. Buy a Fit for the things it does well like save gas, handle nimbly, and be an overall nice commuter.

In my case, I am planning to buy a Fit within the next few weeks as my daily driver. My "other" car is my 206whp, 13-sec, 2001 ITR so I know all about the extra hp.

it never seems to bother me when ever i drive a slower car then my rsx ... and i am planing to buy a fit myself for daily driving ... ive driven plenty of cars with a wide range of power and it seems easy to adjust to the power lose and gained when i switch back and forth ... i dont think you will be unhappy with it ...

I crossed over from my JDM ITR powered EG with Jun III's and thought I would hate the loss of power and suprisingly I don't. I have matured in ways and the boy racer thing has gotten old. I like to have a fast car but daily driving it is a pain in the *** once you start having a career, etc. The fit is so much more than any other subcompact that nothing else in its class really compares. I like to have a car thats unique looking, economical, well designed, versatile interior, and not going to get me into any more tickets and the Fits does that for me in spades. We took mine to Yosemite and camped in it for a week. Being 6'-1", my wife and myself were able sleep in it everynight by putting the back seats down and the front seats all the way forward. In this small of a car the interior space is AMAZING. If you still want to be a stoplight racer this car isn't for you (though K series swaps are available if you still so desire). But if you want something unique and economical and still gets you around in a fun way then you might want to pick one up.
