Default New 09 Fit owner with questions

Hey just picked up a 09 Fit Sport with Navi and had a few questions on it.

This is my first brand new car and wanted to know if i put an intake in it like an aem will it void out my factory warranty?

Also haven't seen any parts out for the 09's yet will the 07-08's fit the 09's as well?

hey hows it going i think ill be the most help here because im a honda technician and if you install an aftermarket intake it will void your warranty and set off a check engine light depending if you go aem also the the only accessory things that you can interchange between the old fits is engine parts wheels no lip kits unless aftermarket and thats it basically it the difference is the body style they kept the same motor and everything else

The intake from an 07 will not fit your 09 fit. If you install any aftermarket parts including an intake it will not void your warranty entirely. Things like other parts, wheels, body etc will still be covered BUT your engine and possibly the transmission may not be covered because changing the intake directly effects them so depending on the dealer those items may be denied coverage.

If you are a Honda Technician you should now that the engine is diffrent too.
(or is this true only in Europe?)
Only thing I have seen that is the same is the ashtray
Maybe some of the windshield vipers too...

The wheels have diffrent offset, but same bolt diameter and number.

There may be some small parts like gaskets, bolts, lightbulbs and other universal things that are the same on both models. But the major things like styling, body panels, engine, suspension, and most of the exhaust as far as I could see.

Some of the parts may be modified to fit between the to models, but I have not heard anyone done it yet.

My warranty on my car was voided when i painted the valve cover -_- they assumed i tampered the engine when everything in the engine is still clean looking and stock!. for parts im assuming that 09 fit parts will gradually grow as did the 07 parts. Testing the market whether people actually buy the 09 fits and asking for mods. Mugen and such co. been making parts look into it? the only thing i like about the 09 is the cup holders on the dashboard like how the ep3 is.

i think aftermarket products will void your warranty
not all the parts fit your car, but i'm sure that 09 parts will be all available soon.

They can't assume a damn thing. Assumptions don't give a dealer the right to deny warranty claims. I'd hate to take my car to your dealership.

If anyone has any questions, call Honda and not the dealership. If you're not at fault, Honda will chew them up and help you.

For an alleged tech you sure don't know anything about the Fit/Jazz. The block may be the same but the head and Vtec sure are different. And even more he is from another country and knows which engine he has and that one is different too. It's not even offered in the USA. fonix knows more about the Fit/Jazz than you do you owe him an apology.

Hi guys,

I am from Singapore, and I got my 09 Jazz 3 months ago.
In Singapore, there is the 09 Fit & 09 Jazz.

Fit is the JDM model import by smaller dealers from japan showrooms, while the Honda agent in Singapore imported the Jazz directly from Honda.

We have the 1.3 (GE6) and 1.5 (GE8) model.

Basically over in Singapore, we do not really worry so much about warrenty as long as the mod can be reverse to stock.

We have quite a few brands of drop-in filters, and open pod available for this car. We also have quite a few exos for this ride. Other accessories like body kit and coilovers are plenty to choose from as well. Most bodykits are customized and mainly from Malaysia.

For more info and discussion about the GE fit/jazz, you can visit the Singapore forum at: http://www.hostingphpbb.com/forum/in...p?mforum=gefit

Enjoy your ride... Cheers,

To be more clear; I don't know ANYTHING about the USDM Fit as I live in Europe. But it has been stated both here on this forum and on other forum that it is a NEW engine on the GE8 model.

For the EUDM Jazz from '07 to the new '09 model I know for sure it is a total diffrent motor on the new '09 model. I have the '07 myself and have just a few month ago tested a '09 and I got a realy good look underneath and on the motor and everything else. And they ARE diffrent. The only thing I think looks the same is parts like fuses, starter engine and alternator. They had diffrent part name, number and manufacture but they looked alike. The rest was diffrent. And my '07 enginge is a 1.4i DSi-SOCH engine with 83Hk/61kW @5700rpm and the new '09 engine is either a 1.2i-VETC with 90hk/66kW @6000rpm or 1.4i-VTEC with 100hk/73kW @6000rpm, so just out of those numbers there has to be some differences...
And a further look down on the specs on the engine I cant find anything that looks exactly the same. Well, they use the same type of oil and fuel

Yap the GD version is totally different from GE. GE has a totally new chassie, its longer and wider. GD is either I-DSI or VTEC, GE model is only I-VTEC. GD is cable throttle body, GE is using electronic throttle.
GE8 comes with paddle shifter, not the +/- button on the GD model.

GE6, 1300cc @ 100 ps, and GE8, 1500cc @ 120 ps.

Sad to say, its still difficult to find after market parts for GE.

Well...I don't see much point in putting an intake on anyways. The engine is never going to be fast unless you get serious and go forced induction.

After driving my fully built turbo integra, I have become soured on "bolt ons" just because they make a very slow car a bit less slower.

I accept the car for what it is. A great car with great gas mileage. If you want to go fast, you shoulda bought something with more cylinders and more displacement.

No disrespect to ya, though. Best of luck either way.

I'm an acura tech and I just read a service bulletin last week about modifications and it said that if the modification caused a problem it won't be covered by warrenty. But of course some techs, advisors and managers will "say" your intake caused your engine to start burning oil and won't cover a new engine; and it'd be pretty hard to prove otherwise.

I've seen Honda cover some crazy stuff; for example one of our customers didn't change his oil in his RDX and after 30K the turbo was ruined, wouldn't make boost and honda still covered it!!
