Loving it more and more. How much weight do you think will be added back in when all said and done? Time to get lexan windows to shave weight back down.

My concerns are with the Roll Cage if you are competing you might want thicker tubing. Depending on what organization you are apart it may be a problem. NASA requires 1.75 in diameter i noticed you have 1.50, unless you are competing within a organization that doesn't require anything bigger than 1.50.
Your gutted so that brings your weight down drastically from the factory weight.
1.50 for 1501-2500 Lbs
1.75 for 2501-3000 Lbs
Also another thing you may want to take into consideration is your seats and harnesses.
When competing tech inspectors want 5 point harnesses or 6 point. Judging by your seats i don't think they are FIA compliant either. When competing that may be another issue. Again this all depends on the organizations. I would look into better seats and harness's because safety comes first.
Just a good heads up for a follow enthusiast. Your build is fantastic otherwise, Good luck!

I figured you were doing it for High Performance Driving Events. A good place to start to develop skills. Just like Egezzy mentioned it would be a good idea to spend the money once instead of twice.
Cutting out a cage and putting in a new cage requires a ton of work. If possible i'd suggest making that a bolt-in cage. This way you can re-sell it to someone else who wants to follow your foot steps. Its a great idea because no one offers it as of now as a option.
Remember seat time is your best investment.

Where is this cage out of spec? Before the cage, it weighed 2259. certified weight. The guy who is building this is one of the original contributors to "Spec Miata". He knows the rules well and i told him to keep it in NASA regs. All is well.

well i was looking at the door bars as the main case from the quick glance. but with the door beam in place you would be good per this from my understanding in hc with everything else per the hc ccr.
well according to the general ccr it would also seem that you are "ok" to run a group like pt.
the sm ccr is pretty vague when it comes to their cages unless i glanced over it. but basically the same thing here as in hc. saying that if you keep the door structure then you do not need the nascar bars just 2 door bars which you have.
i stand corrected but also remember by the time you get to w2w the ccr might change. as an hpder i dont think you can get a logbook going to "backdate" per the ccr. anyways keep up the work and hitting those apexes.

side OEM side impact beam may not be removed unless two (2) bars are utilized in the cage design (i.e. two (2)

It is highly recommended using a NASCAR style door bar for adequate side impact protection. In any case, NASA
CCR-compliant roll cage door protection is required on both sides of the car.

yeah i will be upping the spring rates very soon. 16k and 14k. I just got back from the road course yesterday (2 day event) and wow is all i can say. this is the first time ive tracked with the cage, wider wheels and rubber, and these alignment settings. feels soooo good. the roll on autox is pretty much expected but on the road course its PERFECT now. Ill post video and pics soon.
