Did your insurance go up or down for your Fit??? Just wondering I am going to call my agent in about an hour or so. But me and my wife are going to order a blue Fit sport manual transmission today. All the dealer needs is a $500 deposit. How long did you guys wait for yours she told me about 2-3 months.

Mine went down pretty low. However I had an STi before this. Even so, the Fit is about as low as it gets. I believe I pay $80/month for full coverage.

I have 2 cars on my insurance my 04 redline and her 93 civic so adding another car our insurance will problably go up.

Everything being identical, 100$ more per year than I cost me for full coverage on a 1992 Integra GS 4 door.

Thats odd because the integra has a high theft rate so i would have thought the fit would be chaeper to insure. Oh Well.

I carry some pretty high coverage for bodily injury and comprehensive...plus I carry full tort. And at 24 yrs old I'm shelling out $1600 a year.

I have full coverage - liability, collision, comprehensive and replacement insurance, and I'm paying 144 each month. Thats WITH a 30% discount. Good old Canadians, eh?

Far cry from my insurance on my previous POS (68 a month). Meh, a wonderful upgrade if you ask me

I had a 2003 WRX before I bought the Fit. The monthly cost for full coverage on the WRX was around $120. The same coverage on the Fit is $57. It definitely helps to be over 25... you should see a big drop in insurance cost when you turn 25.

Hmmm I don't think age necessarily matters in Canada... Now i'm curious though.

We get a "safe driving discount" that goes up in increments of 5 percent per year. I don't THINK there is an additional savings however after the age of 25.

I'm 23, and my discount is at 30% so far. Booya.

After 2 years with progressive they dropped my rates by 40% Booya. But for 2 cars me and my wife are still paying around 1200 a year for my 04 Ion Redline and her 93 Civic Ex.

$450 Every 6 months for the Fit
$522 Every 6 months for my Ion
$130 Every 6 months for the 93 Civic Ex

I'll tell you, I work in insurance and there are so many factors that affect the final premium you pay that it's almost pointless to ask others what they're paying to try and get a comparison. Different states have different rates, coverages, discounts, etc., which in addition to the personal factors like insurance scores, loss history, MVR results, education, age, years licensed, usage, etc. make any comparison pretty useless. Two people could have the exact same car w/ the exact same company, but live in different states or have different personal backgrounds and have completely different premiums as a result. Best thing is to always get a quote from your provider before making any purchase and compare it to your current rates, which it sounds like you did.

One thing I will say, unless you get some kind of major rate increase (not due to your own actions, like a surcharge for a ticket or accident), it's best to stay with one company for long term then just jump around trying to get the cheapest rate every year. Companies do take your history with them into consideration -- not just for rates, but also things like accident/violation forgiveness too, i.e. -- you have your one and only rare accident in a long time; if you were with a company long enough to have that forgiven, it could save you hundreds, maybe more, in surcharge costs than the few bucks you saved by jumping around from co. to co. and now have to pay the surcharge for 3 years like in most states (and surcharges will follow you to a new company until those 3 yrs. are up per most states' regs).

Anyway, just some things to consider when making an insurance decision. Lecture OFF now.

For all I know my rates on the Fit might drop next year. They didn't have much info on the Fit when I bought it, such as crach test ratings. But my previous Integra was a 1992 4 door, not nearly as popular with theives as the 94-01.

I have a 01 integra GSR, and I pay about 230 a month for full coverage. I drove a 97 ford explorer and when i switched to the Teg my costs went up about 85 dollars a month. Would it be safe to assume my payments would go down If i were to switch from the teg to a fit?

Yea they should that integra is a high theft car. Thats why the rates are so high.
