FINALLY left the Civic scene behind.
After a looooong search for a variety of potential replacements, I have moved on from my 94 Civic hatch. I was on the hunt for a few different cars to replace my hatch: Toyota Echo, Yaris, Corolla, and the Honda Fit. I've driven only Toyotas and Hondas my whole life and I was initially looking for a Toyota because a family member works at a dealership and has very good prices on parts. However, Toyota interiors and general styling just doesn't compete with Honda right now.
I found a few Honda Fits being sold privately and made many phone calls. My ideal Fit was to have Power Windows, Locks and A/C. I found one about an hour away and checked it out. It had a few cigarette burns in the seats (how does that even happen?) but other than that it was in great shape. Paint looked good, engine was pretty clean, interior needed a good scrub but was otherwise fantastic. It had 122000 kms (76000 miles) and ran beautifully. I made an offer and got it, pretty decent price too.
Now for a few questions...
I did notice a slight "miss" or hesitation while hard on the gas merging on the highway, any thoughts? I've read that incorrect plug gaps or failing coil packs can do this...
Also, it came with an aftermarket alarm installed which drives me insane. I cannot stand aftermarket alarm garbage, I've heard too many horror stories of low quality systems failing. So, my question is once I've removed the aftermarket alarm system, can I order a factory key fob to lock/unlock the doors? It's the LX trim level and I'm pretty sure a key fob can be programmed to the ECM but I'm unsure. I'll end up calling the dealership anyways but I figured one of you guys might know.
I have one picture because we've had a lot of rain the last few days.
I absolutely love it and I'm very happy with my purchase. I'll be spending most of today scrubbing out the old owner stank. Thanks for any input you guys can offer!
I guess I'll have to update my signature eh?

Re: FINALLY left the Civic scene behind.
So the "hesitation" has evolved into a full fledged misfire issue in possibly 2 cylinders. I've read all over the place that the coils are very prone to fail at this mileage and I'm leaning towards replacing them. It's coming up as cylinder 2 and 4 misfire, we still need to further diagnose it to be sure.
Anybody have first hand experience with failing coils?

Fixed the hesistation, no more misfire! It was free, no parts required. But now I have another challenge to overcome, the driver side door lock won't work with my key. I have taken the door apart to remove the tumbler but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it out. I've found the instructions and have followed them but something is not right, someone may have already tried and bodged it.

The misfire was fixed by putting dielectric grease in the coil boots, buuuut it only lasted a few days. I'll be pinpointing which coil it is and replacing it this week.
I took apart the drivers door to get the lock cylinder out as well. That bloody retaining clip on the handle was probably the most frustrating piece of coat hanger I've ever had to deal with. I got the cylinder out and rebuilt, smooth as butter.
I also ripped out the aftermarket alarm system, the wiring was easily the worst I've ever seen. The thing would beep at random times and lock the doors for no reason and make the dash lights flash out of nowhere. Why do people insist on installing these garbage systems? I say go OEM alarm or nothing.
And no, I'm not on FF yet.

I had to unbolt all 4 of the "holy-****" handles and scrub each one individually because they were so filthy. I have NEVER seen dirty handles like these before. I've seen dirty driver handles before but not all four. I wish I had taken pictures of them, it was unreal.

Received my OEM keyless entry kit from FedEx today, installed in an hour. Works flawlessly, very easy to program.
