Icon2 Looking to buy an element - buyer tips?

I am looking to buy an element for use here in CO (driving in the mountains, on/off road, skiing, mountain biking, etc).. was looking for some buyer tips on the element. Things to look for/watch out for? Specific years/models that are better. I see the 07/08 model has the larger engine and moonroof so that was looking more interesting to me.

I have seen an unusual amount of bad cooling fans, leaking valve cover gaskets, torn tie rod and lower ball joint boots and torn compliance bushings. also makes sure the rear diff does not make noise if looking into a 4wd model. all items are easily seen when looking over the vehicle, you will have to look underneath for the torn boots and bushings however.
