Ground Control Coilover for 1 Gen CR-V
After harassing Jay from Ground Control for a couple weeks, he built a set of coilovers for teh 97-01 CR-V. Install is the same as any coilovers, but here are some pointers for the specific setup Ground Control over AGXs.
My Exact Setup is as follows.
Ground Control Coilovers for CRV
AGXs for a 94-01 Integra in the front
AGXs for a 91-94 Eclipse in the rear
Ebay tophats
Ingalls front upper control arms
Homemade bushing for the rear shocks
$5 in bolts and washers for rear camber
Waiting to put the Addco rear swaybar on this weekend.
The car is on 17x8 +48 Rota Torques
Tires in 2 sizes the stupid small ones are 225/40s that were on them when i bought them, just wanted the perspective. The size of the tires that look about right are 225/55R17s
Any machine shop can the bushings very easily.
Easy as Pie
Protip: Use a "Z" drill for the ID, its a one shot deal.
All done
Note the perch on the rear strut, just knock it off, for a cleaner look
Here is stock height, in case you've never seen one..
This is about half way up in front and rear, too low, upper control arm slaps the inner fender, not too bad on our smooth roads in FL, but i imagine murderous up north.
This is more like it. 26.5 Inches from the ground to the lower part of the grey fender lip. Front and back about same height, rides very well. I have 2 other sets of 350z rims I can try on so you can see different tire heights.
Looks tough here. Even my mustang buddy likes this pic

feels good. thanks to jay at ground control, you should be able to just order a Cr-V kit now.
the car feels well sorted and responsive. not overly dampened. the key is my wife doesn't seem to mind, and that speaks volumes to its daily drivablilty

Thanks for the specs on the bushing, I'm about to install my springs/struts and I am running close to the same setup that you are.
On a side note, is that your S13, and if so what all is done to it bc I'm in the middle of a VQ30 swap in mine.

The 240 is pretty mild. SR with bolt-ons. 280ish whp.
Ground control for CRVs now have a part number. I just got off the phone with them.
Spring rates are 400F/350R. Its not the spring rates some guy here recommend, but its what Ground Control does for a living, so im not going to argue. Im very pleased with them so far.
The coilovers cost 350ish. I'd rather not look and see how much I spent
Bad install pics... I'm at work cut me some slack

Re: Ground Control Coilover for 1 Gen CR-V
ive been doing some research and was wondering if the koni yellow itr rear shocks will work instead? i heard they are 2" shorter then the rear crv's so would give you a 2" drop automatically

Re: Ground Control Coilover for 1 Gen CR-V
after searching every website i think i found some rears in stock i just ordered them (koni yellows) I will keep you guys updated as soon as i get a reply from the guy just to make sure he has a few sets in stock and let you guys know. As far as the integra type r i heard the tein ss coilovers work great not sure about just shocks. i think i would feel safer knowing that the part was specificly made for the crv due to its weight etc.

Re: Ground Control Coilover for 1 Gen CR-V
CRVs and 1DSMs are in the same neighborhood weight wise.
The ride is good so far. We don't really have many rough roads near me so I can't attest to how it.handles that. AGXs for the rear are like 200 for a pair. And I had some downtime at work and banged out some bushings. PM me for info. lol
Tada!

Nice work on the bushings, i had to make some home made bushings very similiar to yours, as i am also running 1g DSM rear struts.
CRV looks great!!

Re: Ground Control Coilover for 1 Gen CR-V
i have type r teins on my crv. i made some riser mounts for the rear lower control arms. they move the shock mounting position up 3" and its perfect.
as for the weight difference it drives excellent and since the shocks have stiffness adjustment
