Default B20B rocker arm placement..

I had to change a head gasket on the b20b I just picked up and with my luck I tipped the head over and all the rocker arms fell out. I researched placement for them because there are randy. numbers on the sides, and people said just put them in and do a valve adjustment.

I did the valve adjustment and some valves wouldn't tighten or loosen enough to spec, and after starting I can hear and smell some rocker arms that are either too loose or too tight.

Please help!!! I'm so stressed dealing with constant issues. I appreciate anything!

That doesnt make sense that it wouldnt tighten or loosen enough to get in spec. What valve lash adjustment document are you following? It sounds like you are just doing it wrong.

i don't recall the rockers being a differnet part # for intake vs. exhaust.

take out the rockers, clean and inspect them, look at all of them to see if you notica anything different amoung them.

they all should provide SAME amount of adjustment.

Move the decimal to the left there bud. You've put in 10x the lash you should have.

Specs are .004" in, .007" ex (+/-.001")

Sorry your right, I did use those specs to adjust, just typed it wrong.

The only difference between them all is the numbers on the sides.

Is there a certain way to put them in or do they just rest on the valves? They fell out pretty easy. These rocker arms are different from the ones on my ITR head. I don't think those came out like this.

Yeah the nonvtec rockers are definitely the suck. They just sit there and are captured by the cam and valve.

Ive done countless valve adjustments, Removing rockers, etc etc..

Theyre all the same. If they were specific, then it would be in the service manual.
