ZC overheating problem
Hey all, every now and again my ZC starts to overheat. The needle will rise up 3/4 of the way, but then drop back down to a little below halfway when I stop or accelerate to get on the E-way. This only happens every now and again and I drive the car all the time (for hours sometimes) with no problems. What could this be? It happened again today while I was in the drive-through and I didnt realize it untill it was almost near the top/ I stopped and ate my food in a parking lot and continue on with no problems.
Here is a lil history on my shitty ZC
Swapped the engine in and drive it for about 6 months. Engine was strong but never really knew how strong cuz my clutch was bad.
Put a new clutch in and about 150 miles later my rings blew and I took the car to a good friend.
He put in 89' teg rings and changed all the major gaskets, new thermostat, and had the head remachined. I told him to use the 89 teg head gasket and he swore up and down that he tried it and it didnt fit ??. Well he ended up putting a 86 teg gasket on it and it worked.
Well the car has the things new mentioned above, along with a new 89 dizzy, eacv, and the usual tuneup ****. The car makes great power above 4 grand, but doesnt have any lowend what so ever. I mean you really have to give it some gas to get it to go from a stop.
** running a 89 teg ecu, still have the DX tranny
Anyone have any advice.. really just care about the random temp rising. At this point I could car less about this car anymore and its performance. Just want something to get me to work and school till I can afford the Benz

Re: ZC overheating problem (Digitalcivic)
The parts list that fits the ZC is as follows:
From Patrick:
Timing Belt 88 Honda Prelude p/n - 14400-PK2-004
Distributor cap 88 Acura Interga p/n - 30102-PM7-305
Rotor 88 Acura Integra p/n - 30103-PM5-A05
Head Gasket 88 Honda Prelude p/n – 12251-PM7-003
Intake Gasket 88 Acura Integra p/n – 17105-PG6-S00
Exhaust Gasket 88 Acura Integra p/n – 18110-PG6-003
Water Pump 90 Honda CRX p/n – 19200-P01-004
Oil Filter 88 Acura Integra p/n – 15400-PR3-004
Clutch Parts 90 Honda CRX I used the CRX transmission and the CRX clutch
ZC Clutch disk use: 89 Honda Civic DX p/n - 22200-PM7-J02
ZC Pressure plate use: 89 Honda Civic DX
But I would bet that you have a bad thermostat or some air trapped in the cooling system. Replace the Thermostat then refill the cooling system. Run at idle until the cooling fan comes on twice (have the heat on but dont run the blower motor). During the second fan on add water to the top of the radiator. Add antifreeze to the overflow tank and drive it. If you still have problems check for a blown head gasket.

Re: ZC overheating problem (Gerhard_001)
Replace the 1 Pin Temp Sensor on the Head(It controls the Guage). My Temp guage was randomly going up and down sometimes with Speed, but the car itself was not running hot....I could Start the car let it warm up a little bit and drive 40 feet and it would peg itself out.....Replaced that Sensor and no more Trouble. Was 21 bucks from my Local Honda Dealer.
