Default YAY! it runs.....SNAP!

ok well i just started my crx after like a year and i just put my stock motor in. well it started i was happy then i was giving it alittle gas and then it died. just died. no noise no nuthing. well i went to look what happend and the timing belt snapoed. any damage? it was at like 2K rpm when it died. please let me know if u guys have had this happen. also how hard is it to replace the timing belt?

you could be lucky. without pulling anything, just replace the timing belt, make sure you have everything set correctly and then try to fire it up again. that would be the least invasive way.

yup. my motor when i bought my car busted the timing belt but the girl tried to start it after she broke the timing belt. bent valves in 2 cylinders

i havnt tried turning it over since. when it died i saw the belt was broke and just walked inside. so is there a chance there is no damage?

maybe depends on the position of the cam. if the cam is at the right spot with hardly any of the valves being open then you can spin the crank as much as you want and it wont hit. low compression with a small cam has better odds of not bending a valve. best bet is to just stick another timing belt on there and try and start it.

From my experiences when stock single cams belts snapped there is a high chance that nothing happened. But if it happened to a b-series you can kiss your valves good bye. Best of luck to you cause I felt that pain.

i agree wit hybrid it could be ok ,wouldnt hurt to take a peep under the valve cover

You might have a couple of bent valves. I had my timing belt snap on me on the freeway. When I took off the head, I noticed I had 4 bent valves.

wel i was just sitting in it. the shift linkage isnt even hooked up so it wasnt in gear or moving anywhere. i tapped teh gas a few times and the rpm went up to about 2K so im hoping that nothing happend.......also where is teh ELD sensor located? im throwing a code 20....and 6

o also. i didnt hear any noise when it snapped. it sounded liek it just died no bang or knock or anything. and luckly i didnt try to restart it. LOL!
