What does it mean when you change spark plugs and oil is on the threads?
I recently changed the spark plugs on my 1.5 DX and one of the spark plugs had oil on the threads, (the second one away from the Distributor Cap) the one closest to the distributor cap also had a little bit of oil on it as well. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

I pulled my spark plugs and poured oil down there so it wont rust out....becuase my engine is sitting I also turned the crank....but I think it means you run rich or lean..i dont know for sure

Was the electrode covered in oil? If it is, then that's bad it means your rings are bad. But if the insulator (white ceramic part) is covered in old....then just the plug seals are bad on valve cover gasket.

if the electrode has oil on it it probably because it dripped down there when you took the plugs out.. if you dont see oil on the walls of the plug holes then its the seal under your rocker assembly. thats right at the bottom of the plug holes.. its common on these cars. most people dont know about it and always think its the valve cover seals but its not!

What you heard doesn't matter....it's the small ring seals the go beneath the valve cover at each spark plug hole. Common failure and cheap to replace

trust me. thats not the only place oil can leak on these engines. mine leaks right at the bottom where the rocker assebly bolts to the head..i bought these seals before.. i found a site a wile ago that i ordered them off of.. im trying to find it again .. trust me.. if theres no oil on the sides of the plug hole or you replaced the valve cover gaskets and theres still oil in there , this is your problem. i also found this problem on mitchell on demand .. theres a service bulletin on this.

x2. It's the most common cause of this problem that I've seen.
