alot of peeps will say keep the a6 bottom end and z6 head! i would rather the newer engine altogether. preference mainly as to what you are going to use it for.

I would get the z6. Newer is always nice less mileage!

im jus going to use it for daily driving. its a zc with low milage not too much, it came form attarco. also aside from the longblock or head question, z6 or y8? or theres no difference on the motor/head

depends on the mileage of the head and your block, if you rebuild both it sounds like a good idea. Otherwise I would just do the whole motor swap.

PM6 isn't designed for VTEC. So unless you wanna run without the use of VTEC, you'll either have to have a manual VTEC switch (not recommended, unless you have the ECU reprogrammed..in which case I'd still run the correct ECU) or run a VTEC ECU.

The difference between the z6 and the y8 vtec engines are that the newer y8's have a knock sensor, while the z6 is different in that it didn't use a knock sensor but did use a crank position sensor. And there within lie the differences of the ECU's used between the 2 engines... and yea of course the obvious IM and TB.

the timing on the Y8 is different too.

z6 had better timing

the y8 also has a weaker oil pump spring.

depends on what you plan to do afterwards, if you wanna rock it N/A stick with the a6 bottom end, the compression will be ALOT nicer with the headswap compared to just a motor swap. IMO, the a6 with z6 or y8 head is a better N/A setup, and im partial to the die-ing a6's.

Yeah, the P28 is the corresponding ECU for the D16Z6.
