Default The story of my CRX

This is the story of my 1991 crx si. This post is prob gonna be pretty long. Its been a 5 year project so far and I think it has come a long way. If you see the first few pics, don’t click away… it was a turd. If you have the time to read though the entire post I hope you have the chance to see how far this thing has really came (at least I think it has). Enjoy
This is the way it looked when I purchased the car (back in 2006). The car had just been stolen from the previous owner and he let it go to me after it was recovered.

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/4861/1353598tt8.th.jpg[/IMG]

The car in this turd mode ran a 14.9. Stock engine, gutted interior. Me and a friend then boosted the stock engine (super ghetto rigged) and it ran a low 14. Something like 14.2 or 3.

I then began the long and still on going process of putting the car back together. When I originally got the car, I was in high school. Shortly after I began college and has caused a very slow process. Here are the starting efforts of my restore. Certifit bumper, and some jy moldings.

Around the same time I also purchased a brand new B18C5 off a friend who had purchased it brand new from an Acura dealership in Laurel, MD. (It now has about 13k miles on it). The bottom end was fully assembled. I had to gather the rest of the parts for the head and such. It is bolted to a Japanese Y1 with optional LSD. Before dropping it in, I did a little wire tuck and cleaned up the bay.

After the engine was installed, I spent my time gathering parts and such. I got a hytech replica header and about 20 exhaust set up’s before I was happy. I then began focusing on the interior. I eventually got a JRSC for it. I actually can’t find any pictures of it right now, but I will. And post them up.
Here I began gather parts to put the interior together.

Got some HX wheels

Im the time on the left. All motor with this run

I put some dumb racing seat in

I got a JDM front end. At this point the car looked like crap (not that is hasn’t looked like crap before) for a long time. Right after I got the front end, I went away to college (was at community). I sourced the parts from all around to try n get the cheapest set up. I think I ended up paying like 8-900 dollars. At this point I had installed, ran, and removed the JRSC. I also had gathered all the parts to have a full interior.

you can kinda see my car back there(before body wrk started)

After this I did another wire tuck- more in-depth. I tucked the brake lines and actually sprayed the bay with a paint gun.

After that, began the exterior. A lot of hours went into sanding this thing between school and work. I would drive home on the weekends and work on it.

Vanilla Primer

Just rolled out of the paint booth.

After this the car literally just sat for a year. I would work on it here and there, but rarely ever touched it.
During the time it sat, I bought a legit go kart, sold it and then I bought a motor cycle. After having the bike for a little while, I realized it was illogical to own this. I have a Ruckus that’s got a lotta stuff done to it (which i will post somewhere within this post). The ruckus is no where as fast as the motor cycle, but is 134 times more fun to ride. Therefore I sold the motor cycle, which was a pretty sick cbe750, and had some cash to throw into my rex. With that cash I began purchasing whatever brand new moldings I didn’t have and am currently in the process of reassembling everything.

fresh moldings

I have some cheapo drag DR-something’s on there now. Replicas of replicas of replicas. ill sell em if anyone wants em

i still have a few moldings to put on. Two of which are the ones that go around the rear quarter panel window, which requires removing that glass.

That is the story of my CRX up to now. There are tons of other pictures, I just threw in a few from each stage. Right now the car is on jack stands as I am restoring the rear suspension set up. New hubs, studs, bushings, lca’s, uca’s, and an actual suspension.
If you guys have any thoughts or opinions, I would love em. As I mentioned, the car sat for a while and I had to focus on school and fell out of the game. If you guys would like to see any other pictures, just lmk.

Here are a few pics of the crx with the pooper charger. This thing was decently fast when it was on. I ran a 12.4 or maybe a 12.6. Something like that, at 114mph. Easily a high 11 sec car with some big slicks and a not sucky suspension.

Here are a few more pics of when i did the second tuck on it.

i guess i suck at taking pictures

Oh my god, major congratulations are deserved for this. Juggling college, work, and building a sick-*** rex must have been hard (or still is?) But man, this rex is one of the cleanest I have ever seen. If you posted a wire-tuck guide it would help a LOT of people of this forum as you seem to have one of the best I've seen. Keep this build going man, for your fans. haha P.S. Sick extended swing arm on the Ruckus.

Thanks man! And I do believe there is a write on this site about doing a wire tuck. I used it to gather thoughts for my tuck.
