Spark, Fuel, Compression, but not Starting...
88 civic d15 5spd. motors been running like crap lately getting horrible mileage and misfiring and not idling and whatnot from running extremely rich and now its not starting at all. the car will crank and start to kick then crank some more and start to kick and so on.
I pulled the plugs i put in about a week ago and they are completely black with carbon and wet with fuel. Cleaning them off had no effect. I'm getting a nice white/blue spark on all cylinders.
Compression tested at 180,184,180,182 so i don't see any serious problem real problem there. And the timing marks lined up Pretty much exact on the cam gear with the two dashes level to the head and the up marker up at TDC. At most it may be 1 tooth off on the cam gear but i couldn't see that giving me a no start condition. I'm not sure what it looks like at the crank pulley because i don't know where the timing marks are on it or where their reference marks on the block are.
The only code that its throwing is a Code 1 which i believe is oxygen content and i have no CEL's.
Anyone got an idea? All help is appreciated.

ok well have you check all your vac hoses for cracks .. make sure you haven't got any moisture in the dizzy .. so pull the cap and rotor be sure its good .. another key thing to look at is the grounds make sure they are all good .. checked your air filter?

and fix that one tooth off timing make sure the top is up and the lines are good .... and make sure your #1 pistons is at TDC

Also, the timing belt has good tension on it and is not missing any teeth so i dont see how it could have jumped a tooth...

Check the vacuum hose to the map sensor and the map sensor itself. A faulty map sensor or signal to the map sensor will make the car run pig rich and cause a hard start condition.
Also check the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator. If the hose is cracked or broken it will cause the car to run rich also and cause a hard start. If you have a fuel pressure gauge intalled on the car you can monitor what the fuel pressure is at idle and if changes if you unplug the vacuum hose to the top of the fuel pressure regulator. This way you can determine if maybe the diaphragm in the pressure regulator is faulty.
