what can cause the shifter feel like its in neutral meaning you can move it left to right from side to side. mine does this and it bugs me to death. how can i fix this?

Re: shift linkage slop
The energy suspension bashing don't really make it stiffer more like tighter, it will fix some of the wobble but alot of mine came from the shifter bearing being completely worn out, I replaced it with a Blox dual bend energy suspension bushings and weighted shift ****, the shifter is worlds better than stock. If you want to take out all the wobble for a more performance oriented feel I would go that route.
