yes it's possible, just use the wire that goes to the light to activate the solenoid instead.

yes they are all correct, my friend had it that way and im still waiting on him to hook mine up that way. he used some kind of rpm activator or something hooked up to the shift light on his tach, then also hooked up to the vtec solenoid so when the shift light comes on it activates the vtec. right now i have mine hooked up to a push button connected to my shiftknob and it works great

I've heard that having a VTEC light can cause problems with VTEC engaging.

He wants to use his shift light as a ghetto rpm switch for VTEC. I was thinking about doing that before I got my VAFC. I think you're going to have to use a relay.

IMO you should save up and get a controller

maybe i'm wrong but i think hooking vtec to a shift light will only activate the solenoid, but doesnt affect the fuel maps in any way, isnt this a problem?? higher cam lift without extra fuel?does anyone know more about this?

why would you want a big bright *** light to shine in your eyes for 3,000 rpms?.. and then when you get to 8 grand how you gonna know when to shift when you cant see? shift like comming on early and then driving with it on

what the hell are all you people talking about. He wants to use his shift light (i'm assuming tach w/adjustable shift light) to activate his VTEC. It will not adjust the fuel map for VTEC it WILL JUST ACTIVATE THE VTEC SOLENOID! He will wire the solenoid in place of the shift light. HE WILL NOT BE DRIVING AROUND WITH THE SHIFT LIGHT SHINING IN HIS FACE.

HE'S NOT ASKING ABOUT A VTEC LIGHT EITHER
argh

if you want your shift light to go off when your vtec kicks in. just set it to the rpms on the shift light to go off when the vtech kicks in. other than that i have no idea what you are looking for?

i would rather get the zdyne silver ecu but do to lack of money these are my other options...i have an adj. fpr so that would help if i run a rpm activator and yes i prolly would have to run a relay for it...

has anyone used a msd rpm activator on a mini me or d series vtec swap???

just get the VAFC. You'll be more happy with it and it looks cool heh. I have the wiring diagram for the pm6 somewhere.

With the msd switch you'll need some kind of ground converter or inverter or something like that. I don't remember. The switch also doesn't put out constant voltage, but rather a series of very fast connections. Not very good for the vtec solenoid

I used to use a Summit Racing rpm switch, but now I have a VAFC.

PM me if you want the summit switch. I'll give it to you cheap if you want.

wow, this is an old thread

If you really want a light to come on during vtec, just add a wire to an extra spot on your existing cluster

my car is now obd1 with all wires running where it needs to be. before i went turbo, i did run an LS ecu chipped no rev with my tach as my vtec controller (it was very effective) since its been running fine for the last 6 years why spend more money ( at the time) to do it right?

i daily'd it, i raced the **** out of it and still... reliable.
