Saddest post I ever had to do: Saying good bye to my One and Only 1st CRX
I guess doing a post is some kind of therapy that will help me get through this.
Got this CRX in the mid 90s, 89 HF. Put a stock D16 in it and bolt ons. The usual stuff you got in 1990s. DC Header, MSD ignition. Then it got better goodies such as the cylinder head work and camshaft.
Best ever dyno: 142hp @ 116tq dynojet. dyno circa 1997-98
Best 1/4 mile time 13.6@99mph at least 30 passes. It was very consistent.
Here it is in its later days.
Later as I got more into getting this as light as possible. Took it to work like this wearing shirt and tie for a few months in the Cali summer heat.
This was the process to put the doors on and clean up the interior a bit.
Then for some stupid reason, I wanted to redo it and make it a full time drag car around 2000.
So finally after 5 years of hauling it to different places, trying to figure out what to do with it. I gave in and we just had to cut it up since there was too much stuff cut on it to make it a street car. It wouldnt have been the best chassis to do for a PRO All Motor car since there were parts that shouldnt have been cut.
So here it is before getting cut up.
In front of the shop:
the pieces:
Rest in pieces old friend. I'll miss you.

I know that wasnt ez 4u.
You will find another.
Keep a part (like the H logo or something) to put on the new one
Let this be a lesson to all
unless you plan to junk it (which is a cardinal sin as far as I am concered)
make sure all mods are reversable

I know, it was a stupid thing to do to cut certain parts of the car. Actually any part of the car. Back then, the thinking was, cut to lighten it and just add weight later. That's what alot of people were doing at the time.
Believe me, I have thought about what to do with this car for several years. It had traveled at least 400 miles back and forth from place to place for the past few years. It was just not worth it to store it at the shop taking space for nothing. We ran out of places to leave it at. Its been at 6 different places at a time and towing it back and forth was just wasting gas and money.

One of the hardest things I ever had to face. It took 6 years of denial and reality to set in and I just have no place to keep it at and no money to put it back together.
Yes a lesson to not cut anything and make major modifications that can lead to the car to end up in the trash.
In spite of all the sadness:
There is a purpose for getting rid of the car. It'll be brought back to life in a different way.

What all do you have left? Too bad you couldn't have given it away for free in the classifieds, I bet some poor student out there would have loved to slowly turn it into their first weekend warrior track car project.

The word was spread for the past 3 years if anyone wanted it. No one took it even for free. We never did post it on HT though, just amongst the So Cal racing scene.
But anyways, it wasnt for someone that just wanted to start out. To make the car safe and a real race car, it needed a REAL cage in it. Something that would have cost a couple thousand at least to make this chassis strong again.

Actually the only parts available are what you see.

Thats dumb, why even do that when you could have sold it for like what 10$ at least to like anybody that would do anything with it at all?, instead of cutting it into pieces and showing it to us.
Would you cut up a GT500 just because it's old and not the best of condition body?, i din't think so, or at least i hope not.

I feel your pain man. Don't worry, there's another REX waiting for you. It will never be like the first one, but that's not to say it can't be memorable all the same.
As for your first EF, believe me......it wasn't all for not.

I've tried to give it up for free. No one would take it. The cost of moving it from place to place with gas, I may have spent a good $400.00 the past 6 years plus the time to move it around. Its been to 3 different friends' houses, at REV HARD, and countless parking lots on the trailer.
It's easy to say just give it up for $10, but for a car that needs a 1 pce front end and a full racing cage to get it back to working condition, no one wants to take it. I feel your anger, but its costing me more money to try to keep it.
Oh and I have 2 other 95 Integra shells that I need to sell. Anyone want it? I've been trying to get rid of those for awhile too. haha.
