Radio volume increases when i turn up heat from 1-4???
I'm thinking that i have a ground problem behind my dash where the radio/air controls are but here's the problem...
When i turn on the radio while driving all i will get is a low static untill i turn the fan lever all the way up to #4 (gets increasingly louder from 1-2-3-4 on fan setting).
Weird part is that when the car is off and i just put the key in ACC and turn on the radio it works great.
What would cause this?
Thanks,
Vince

try a radio antenna filter or get a new radio, (maybe its due to age) or did this just start happening all of a sudden?

since i've had the car...i plan on getting a CD player but untill i get the dash and old unit out to take a look at it i wanted to make sure nothing major is wrong. The reason it strikes me as weird is because if hte car is off i can have the radio on fine but once i start it and the heater/air controls are active then i need the fan all the way up to listen.

My guess is that someone rewired the stock radio back in the car and didn't know which wires were which. I bet they somehow tapped into the power wires for your heater/ac controls.

i hate when you get a car like this. We hooked my friend's cd player up exactly as the stock one was, and now if you turn the headlights on (even without the key in), the radio will come on. haha. its such a hassle, but on the other hand, its kidna like a headlight-buzzer since our cars dont have them

How does this happen? Did you guys wire the radio power to the headlight power wire? Isn't there a seperate radio power trigger wire in the stock location for this reason?

they probably used the Illumination 12v as the switched ignition 12v source by accident.
I just got a CDXM630 (239CDN$) great CD Player.
I would just pull it off and look. Getting to the stereo's on 4g's is so easy.

but would it be easy to confuse the illumination 12V with the ignition 12V? Isn't there already a wire in the stereo location for it?
Seams like it couldn't be hard to mess up...

i would go with a pioneer head unit. i have a stereo shop in columbus, ohio and thats are number one best seller out of about 270 units sold i have only had 6 returned for problems.
also with your wiring let my knwo the wires and i'll tell you what they do .

I've had my 5500 for about 8 months now. It works like a champ--especially if you like tweaking your audio settings in great detail. It also has built in crossovers.
Only problem so far is that a small part of the lighted display stopped working (it was there just for aesthetics anyways).
Overall its a great unit.

my guess is that the previous owner had radio problems and replaced the stock unit with some crappy tape deck and screwed it up when he did that .. when we put his cd player in, we just wired it up exactly like the other one was, because we didnt know about the headlight problem at the time. oh well.. he's selling it anyways

ive got this one. nothing but for this one. you can put your own pictures on it without the link kit that costs 100+ bucks. jus burn files to a cd-r and it loads up on my player screen

Re: Radio volume increases when i turn up heat from 1-4??? (HamiltonRex)
alot of times the wierd buzzing noise can be made better by upgrading your radios ground and also you battery ground and engine block grounds. the noise comes from the spark plugs mostly when the car is running because the way the spark plugs fire creates and ostilating wave (sine wave) which causes this buzzing noise. now to fix the problemm the easiest way is to up grade ground that will take care of part of the noise. the other is to put a ground loop isolater on you radio and that should help.
on the pioneer thing i have a 3300 in my daily driver which i have had no prolems with for the last 4 years
My nice car (the shop Car) has a Pioneer DEX-P9

which we use for Sound Quality Competions. (USACi, IASCA, MECA)

Pioneer/Premier is a good car deck to go for. The best part to them is you can set the sound any way you want and they have pre done eq settings. Also i would recommend getting the volume ***** that turn instead of the buttons that adjust the volume up and down

Re: Radio volume increases when i turn up heat from 1-4??? (tony)
yea i forgot about the alternator we ussally up grade all the alternators on the cars that come through our shop so thats not a problem.
the white wire that runs from you alternator to you battery increase the size of that wire like go to a 4 gauge or something like that and that will help also.
for the grounds i would also suggest atleast 4gauge wire. you can get this wire at your local car audio shop or any welding suppy store.
