Engine bay painted (not wetsanded/buffed) and si hubs installed with extended arp studs, and new bearings. Still need to order the new ball joints and tie rod ends. Its monster trucked right now until i finished working on it (hate jacking up a lowered car). Due to lack of lighting i took a real close shot of the color i used on the engine bay. I also took a shot of my super gangster wood steering wheel as a before shot. Im going to sand and reseal it.

Re: Project spare parts into daily
Im thinking about doing a full color change to a light color like the tan color like on the new fj cruiser OR I was also looking at a light greenish color off the yaris. Both colors are non-metallic (looks more oem, i dislike non oem looking colors) I'd keep the factory paint sceme with the black trim pieces and lower bumpers being black as well.. I think the eg would pull these colors off way better than the crx just because the eg has a softer body shape and looks better in softer colors. Im not sure if the very distinct sqaure design of the crx could pull them off.
For dark colors i was thinking like a chocolate brown color like on the jetta below or a dark blueish grey color off the prius. What do you guys think? Light or dark? Which color lets here it? Or should i just stay black?

Bigluelok- Wow thanks for the compliment man, hope i dont dissapoint. Come pick the yellow one up and start your own build!!
Bigrob- I agree on the jetta bitchen color, dislike the rims. Im still toying with the idea of a color change its just a lot of work I didnt plan for.

Re: Project spare parts into daily
I didnt end up using the subframe that got primer on it so i didnt care how it looked. Its actually still in my garage all primered up, same with the hubs (they were hf) so basically the whole front suspension was garbage and i knew i would be replacing it. So i didnt care if paint got on it. I replaced the hubs with actual si hubs, and the subframe was replaced with the yellow cars which is in much better condition than the black cars.
Seperate note its payday today so some new goodies should be in the mail arriving at my house early next week. Im going to order it all tonight so hopefully it ships out tomorrow and can get to my house tuesday (day off) so i can get this thing looking like a car.

Re: Project spare parts into daily
I thought about doing a crazy color to the subframe (and really like the idea) but i decided that since it will be a dd and most likely never entered in any shows it wouldnt ever be seen by anyone. I most likely wont pop the hood for anything except routine maintenance so even the purple engine bay could be argued as pointless. Besides most people at shows dont even glance at sohc cars anymore, its all about the gold plated k's with itb's or 1000hp b series daily driver on e85. Or crazy deep wheels on fwd cars (go figure). Ill be in the parking lot with the cars that get driven home instead of trailered.

Tearing apart crx's to rebuild them better . Im very dissapointed that the silicone someone used to install the bodykit this car had on it is so strong it peeled off a bigass patch of black paint. Full respray is a sure thing now, once the car is running tho not now.

I'll build a Y49 rex! Idc about the "curse"...wait I had one, I was removing the engine and the chain broke on the lift and the engine fell into the crx. Scared the hell out of me, that never happen before! Lol! I guess it is!
Good luck on your build man! Keep it coming

Re: Project spare parts into daily
PM me if your serious about giving the y49 a 2nd chance on life im willing to basically give it to someone if they want to save it. it comes rolling with complete brake system, doors, and hatch, but nothing else. Clean title too. Its pretty far gone but not as disassembled as my black one was the day i towed it home!

Re: Project spare parts into daily
Sorry for the lagging everyone i got my suspension in that i wasnt really planning on buying but anyway i got koni yellows with gc coil overs, and gc extended top hats. I gave my 88 ef hatch to a friend but kept the motor, trans, and axles. So ill have brand new mounts, axles, a rebuilt d15b (vitara pistons fjt rods) rebuilt d16z6 head, and an si trans that is crap (3rd gear grind and leaks) so ill be using my dx trans and look into getting the si trans rebuilt and lsd installed. The motor was built for boost so later on down the road after i get all the kinks taken care of ill be boosting her.
