Ordering some JDM S1 Cable tranny synchros- Anybody else need some?
I'm ordering some synchros for my cable JDM S1 tranny.
This is not a group buy or anything, just seing if anyone else needs some since they are hard to come buy. Parts are new OEM parts.
Price is:
1-2 $240 and 3-4 $240 and 5th is $140
Shipping is extra, i'm in The NW
I'll probably order sometime next week,

Really, I posted a while back looking for a shop who sales these, but no one had any. These are for the JDM S1?

How much were they through gear-speed?
I need some. Rebuilding my S1 would be a lot nicer than just buying another high km one that will grind again.

the synchros have nothing to do with your speedometer cable. The synchros are part of the transmission between the gears.

Well I guess I will share what they told me. James can probably correct me if I misunderstood as he does roam this board I believe.
1st and 2nd are OEM from Japan. $20 a piece or so, he wasn't 100% sure of the pricing on those
3rd, 4th and 5th are actually Carbon Coated, which arguably makes for a better synchro, for this application anyway. $100 shipped for those
While you're in there, you might as well replace seals and bearings. Kit was about $200.
They also get LSDs made for them which are meant or B-series Cable tranny, no need to change the ring gear. You'd be looking at $850 for the LSD.
James also suggested to take a close look at the selector hub(or sleeve) since that would also cause grinding or premature wear of the synchros. I think, not sure, but you may be able to use one from a DA Integra tranny form your local dealer.
So all in all, for about $1200 you would have an LSD tranny good as new assuming your gear teeth are still in good shape. Unfortunately, you can't fit a Typr R 4.785 in those, but I think Quaiffe may have something close to that.
They will do the work should you not be able or want to do it yourself.

Hey Eli,

I've been stuck at 13.0 since my last run last season. I've run just about every 13.0's this year ranging from 13.07, 13.06, 13.05. My best run so far is a 13.02... sigh. I should take a dump before every run.
Hoping to run a 12 this friday unless it gets rained out.
We need to see your car out there Pascal.

I have a Y1 LSD. I need to replace 2nd to 3rd synchro and 3rd to 4th synchro. I called Prostreet and they said I'd have to buy it in sets of R-1-2 for $250, 3-4 for $200. Plus shipping. So I'm looking at almost $500 just in synchros?
Through Gear-speed I can get 1st-2nd for $40+/-?
Are 3rd-4th-5th $100 for all three?
If that's the case, I'll buy from them and get a new seals and bearings kit.

i called James at gear-speed
they are sold out till july.
also, keep in mind they are only selling the synchro 'rings,' not the kit. . .which is why it runs that cheap. basically 20 for stock ones and 30 for the carbon coated ones. . .only 3, 4, 5 gears are coated. . .

I'm no tranny expert, what would come in a "Synchro kit"?
Yes I realise 3, 4 and 5th are the coated ones.

Yeah! What he said. Is it a complete kit from Prostreet? Even if it is, RSbad454 says it's $600 from Prostreet for all synchros and 'possibly' the seals and bearings are included. I do know that the 1st & 2nd set also has the R synchro in it as well.
If you go through Gear-speed, If it's $50 tops for 1-2, then $100/piece for 3-4-5. Plus the bearing and seal kit for $200. $200+$300+$50=$550.
It will still be cheaper through gear-speed.

Wow! This sure generated some popularity. The carbon synchros run $100 a set shipped for 3rd 4th and 5th gears. I also have stock new and a ton of good used synchros. I have a new shipment due in the middle of July for the carbon synchros. So everyone be patient, I am working fast to get everyone taken care of!! We had plenty in stock and within two weeks we depleted stock!! Feel free to give me a call with any questions you guys may have or shoot me an email.
Thank you guys,
