New wheel issues
Alright so i recently purchased new wheels and tires for my 91 EE2 wagovan and i've been experiencing problems since putting them on. The new wheels are f1r 15x8 replicas and are about 100lbs. heavier, 2' bigger, and 2' wider than the OEM i had on previously. The low end tire shop i had balance them told me that they have 3 different styles of alloy weights that are used to balance wheels and this is a common occurrence after just using the first style alloy. Keep in mind i work under the hood and body, not on wheels and tires so im in the dark as to what they're telling me and just have to go with it... So anyway immediately after the first balance when i would hit 55+mph the wheels would steadily vibrate rougher and rougher. Knowing my suspension has recently been upgraded, i knew it was the wheel balance. I brought it back to them so they could install the weights they called "alloy 3". I have no idea why wheels need to be balanced if they are brand new, but anyway, i got back on the highway and it wasn't as bad this time but same thing at highway speeds. Decided to take my business elsewhere to a more higher end tire shop and they told me the wheels were "zeroed out" meaning that they were perfectly balanced and i "just have to let them break in" which i knew couldn't be true. I thought id give it one last shot with a commercial grade tire shop, so i left them overnight with one of our commercial accounts and they said they'd give them a look. They said that the wheels were extremely heavy for that size vehicle and that i should expect vibrations at highway speeds since they were much bigger and that some of the wheels were off balance so they re-balanced those.
Got on the highway this morning and same song and dance, 55+ and im riding on top a washing machine. Guys im at a standstill here.
Last time i let my wheels vibrate this much my oem wheel actually came off on the highway and i busted all that suspension. Is this normal?
Has anyone ever experienced this? Do i need "hubcentric rings"? I live in a city and 85% of my travel is highway. insight would be appreciated.

Re: New wheel issues
Sorry guys, bbcode ocd... anyway i've done a lot of research and found out that hubcentric rings are a vital part of after market wheels especially the universal kinds with multiple bolt patterns on one wheel. I've found out my hub od and my wheel inside diameter, so thanks for your help. There is an excellent writeup for civic hub centric rings Here with before and after results for future troubleshooters.
SPECS:
OEM hub diameter for ALL civics: 56.1
F1r F01 Hub ID: 73.1

Re: New wheel issues
Wow, scary that only the hupcentric rings would cause that.
Check your tire pressure as well, too high causes low speed vibrations, too low causes high speed vibration.
AlSO, very important. Make sure you have the correct lug nuts for those wheels.
