New key from Honda won't turn ignition
I lost my keys and went to the Honda dealership to have them make me a new one of my vin number. They told me if anything had been changed (key cylinder & door locks) that the key would not work. I got an extra one made at walmart just in case. The old key worked everything just fine. The new key can unlock the door but wont unlock it or turn the ignition. Is it possible that over time since the old key wore down that the lock cylinders and the ignition cylinders did too. How would i fix this? Just grind down the spare key and keep trying it?

If the notches match up when you hold the keys side by side, then your theory is quite likely. We took a buffing wheel and 'wore in' the new keys when we used to cut them at Honda. Also check for any rough edges etc...
If it is considerably worn you can bring the ignition cylinder to the dealership and they may be able to re-key it to the original key code per the VIN code. You may have trouble getting the cylinder out but if you have a dremel you can wear a groove in the dome-screw (a la TPS) and use a flat headed screwdriver.

I got it to work. I used some chain lube from liquid wrench and sprayed it inside the cylinder and used the key to work it threw and it must have freed everything up bc now it works no problem. I think it was from brass shaving or dust collecting in there for so many years. Did the same thing with the doors and everything works. Hope this helps someone else out too.
