Narrow replica and Full size radiator in CRX (pics)
All the local boys told me there was no way I could run a Narrow replica header with my full sized Mishimoto radiator.I thought I would at least check and see before ordering a half radiator. I bracket race and consistant temperatures are really important. I also decided to swap out my jacked up valve cover why i was at it.
Before:
I was real happy with the quality of this header.
Old ITR 4-1 header.
ITR header removed. Had to remove the radiator and unhook the AC which sucked.
The clearance was tight with my full sized radiator. As you can see the 1st tube is a bout 3/8 of an inch away from it. It was a PITA to get the radiator back in but it would be cake if you dont have AC.
Now I get to drive the car open header to work so I can weld up the electric cutout etc... I also need to get some stainless steel zip ties to pull the AC hoses away from the header.

I'm quite impressed a full size rad a/c and a header!
Impressive.
Those knock off narrows are pretty decent and the bang for the buck is stellar, till I got a RMF I had a knock off and was happy enough with it, from what I've seen vteckidd's are better then most.

That looks sweet, nice car man. Love the header and valve cover Sorry if this is a dumb question but what is the electric cutout for?

Re: Narrow replica and Full size radiator in CRX (pics)
I made some progress tonight. I didnt feel like driving the car open header so I just took some measurements and decided to just fab up my new test pipe/cut out.
Starting out I realized I was short a 2 bolt flange. I didnt drive all the way to work to get nothing done so I decided to just fab one up.
Next step was to slip the home made 2 bolt flange over the cut-out and weld on the Donut gasket flange.
Next step was to weld on the exhaust flange which I took from my old test pipe. I put the tape on when I measured everthing, the tape insures I have the cut-out clocked correctly. I just had to line it back up.
Finished product.
I just have to bolt it all in and wire it up tomorrow. I checked and it fits like a glove. I dont know what the hell the cut-out was made out of but a magnet wouldnt even stick to it. It sucked to weld..

any overhead pics? I am trying to get a view of how much clearance you have if you were to have an AC compressor mounted.

Dang I thought the thread was dead. I welded it with a mig welder, I am assuming the cut-out was made out of some sort of stainless steel. I will get the requested pics tomorrow (Tuesday)
I had time Saturday after work to install the test-pipe/cut-out and wire it up.
I installed the switch in a removable compartment in the lower dash.
Looks pretty factory. I hate hack jobs I wanted it to be clean
Here is the cut-out installed. I was surprised how well it fit. It has plenty of ground clearance.
I also installed a B&M short throw shifter which is mounted on a spherical bushing. This is a huge up grade over the stock POS shifter. The gears are close and with the spherical bushing it is so smooth and solid feeling. If I ever do another Honda this will be my first upgrade.
After I got all this stuff installed I took the car for a test drive. First thing I noticed was that the exhaust note is totaly different than before. Its deeper at low RPM's and way more "sports car like' in the upper rpms, I am very happy with quality and the performance of the header. You can definitely feel more low end torque than before and more tope end pull. The shifter made the car much more enjoyable to drive, I cant emphasise this enough.
I have new tie-rod ends to install so I can get an alignment and the CRX is good to go for a while. I plan to hit the track this Friday to see if the butt dyno lies.

You must have got a slightly different cut header.....I have the full size Fluidyne in my CRX and could not get that header to fit for anything with the fluidyne.
Glad to see someone got one that worked.

From the back of the flange to the furthest point the first tube sticks out is 6 1/2 inches. It was 6 7/8 inches form the Cylinder head to the radiator.

I am running an ETD traction bar and Skunk2 Pro-S coilovers. I have my car lowered to where the body is just above the tires
The clearance is pretty good, way better than the JDM 4 to 1 header I had. Even if you car was slammed I dont think there would be issues.
Here is the AC compressor clearance requested.

clearance doesn't look that bad at all...although not as good as my DC 4-2-1, which is to be expected, but a lot better that the hytec 4-2-2-1 replicas. i think i'll be good buying this, probably see about making a shield for it just in case
