If your just changing your transmission you reuse your hubs(spindles) and axles. If you goto a B-series or 5 sp axles (other then HF) you will need to change your hubs but other then that your fine.

Well to be have you guys help me. I have a 89 DX Hatch with the stock 4 speed transmission. So im pretty sure i have the stock hubs and all right now. So all i want is a 5 speed tranny soo i can have my longer gears and all. So what tranny should i go with so i dont have to worry about changing the hubs and axles? Could i build my 4 speed internally? Whats the best way to go?

Dx or Si, 89-91

Get a new clutch at the same time.

I have yet to check the internals of the 4sp so I can't verify if can/cant just get the gear sets and swap them. Just reuse your parts and get a new/different transmission. Replace clutch if needed (prob is old and needs one any ways)

Swapping internals is a retarded idea. Get the correct transmission. You would need the other tranny to get the parts, and I doubt it would work anyway.

Dx is 5spd. You have a std model(or at least a std trans).

Get an si trans(89-91), axles and clutch. Shift linkage is the same, cable is the same.
