Sounds like it. Could also be come sort of loose connection causing the constant clicking of the main relay.

I'd go with the main relay first or try soldering the contacts, then go from there.

take the cover off of the relay and you'll see solder joints, resolder them

do not repair or replace your relay until you have tested it! It is a very simple test.

Try this one. When something malfunctions in your car, do not just start repairing and replacing parts if you can avoid it. In this case, you have a very simple test that could possibly save you $50 or however much main relays cost these days. If you need help on how to perform a continuity test, let me know. I will explain it to you, but please do not replace or try to repair your relay without testing it first.

wait wait wait.... you're going to do what?

Honda engineers are a lot smarter than you and me. That is because they are a TEAM of educated professionals working together to develop a quality, reliable product. In other words, that relay is in the car for a very good reason. Believe me, if Honda could have saved a couple of bucks by skimping out on putting that relay in there, I guarantee, they would have done it...

just hit up your closest salvage yard and pick one up you can score one for like 10 bucks tops and thats one of the easiest fixes i can think of and those are a common weak part for civics and crxs ive gone through 2 in my 89 crx si and 1 in my 88 ef hatch so just buy one and swap it out much easier than bypassing all that and probally alot safier.

Why not just resolder the joints and not expletive up your car's wiring harness?? Take the cover off the relay, see those solder joints? Heat them up until they melt and add a bit more solder if you want. Fixed. It is that easy. You can fix it properly way easier than whatever you're planning on doing.

will this main relay stop your fuel pump from working sometimes?my 90 civic does this from time to time.the first time it happened i had came out of the bank and my car would not start so i removed some fuses.the main fuse for the acc sparked when i put it back in and i guess it reset and the car started.so know when it does it i just remove and replace this fuse.i thought that the fuel pump relay was by itself.but looking at that drawing its on the same relay.anyone had this happen?

the only way to tell if your relay has gone bad is to test it. I have posted the instructions directly from the service manual above. Print it out, and run the test. If you are confused about how to read the chart, let us know, and we will help walk you through it.

I got 2 working relays.

Yeah testing them is easier if you got alligator clips or make a piece of wire with a clip on one end to supply power. Then get another wire like you use to check your CEL with.
Just make sure not to touch wrong ones with power to it.

The main relay controls power to both the fuel pump and the fuel injection computer via two separate circuits. They commonly fail in very hot temps, as when a car has been sitting out in the sun during the summer.

Screwing around with the fuses has nothing to do with it. It likely started working because you had a door open and let some of the hot air out.
