Default THE LUNCHBOX - WAGON EDITION!

Hey fam, recently bought a Honda Civic EE Shuttle for a daily as I take my ED hatch off the road as it's more focused for track, still drive around on street but want to savor it more. Decided to start a build thread for this just to keep track of what I've done, for now it'll stay near stock, just fixing few problems up, but eventually I'll mod it, leaning towards the VIP/bagged way.. But here's how she looks at the moment!

My ED Civic Hatch thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/lunchbox-3251019/

First problem, which to be honest is rather major, oil leaks and disappearing coolant.. Previous owner said he replaced rocker cover gasket but didn't clean down motor so I did so and it seems his correct. However, after driving if I park the car and come back, there will be a puddle of oil under the motor on the ground. So today I went about cleaning the bottom of motor to figure where it's leaking, removed the bash plate under gearbox, cleaned it and then ran car again to investigate. It seems to be coming from up in a small gap between sump and gearbox, I believe it is either sump gasket OR rear main.. Someone in the next week or two I will try re-sealing the sump and hope that fixes the problem..

However, I've noticed after driving it the water level goes down in over flow bottle. I replaced coolant today and it still seems to do the same. Havn't really found any coolant leaks anywhere, but me thinking, the head gasket is starting to get a bit hey how ya going.. NO smoke is blowing from exhaust, but iduno... So we are already on a down hill since buying this ""cheap daily"" few days ago.. HOWEVER, my mate is removing his D15B4 (140xxx km) from his hatch this/next week so I've managed to dibs it, it runs a beauty. So if I can't quick fix this leak, I'll drive this motor till she blows (assuming head gasket is already going) and then I'll chuck this spare motor straight in, best thing is, the new motor will cost me a KFC meal so cheering! :D

Pic is of where the oil is leaking from:

I just enjoy watching the videos more than reading through threads these days. I love the color of your wagon though, keep those EF's alive!

Car looks like a great chassis to start with, amazing condition considering......
In my experience, the engine has one, or both of these problems. A very slow internal headgasket leak, meaning will go in the not too distant future. I had a crx do this with coolant level that kept slowly going down, but not enough to be noticed through the color of the exhaust. The other common is issue is the rear main seal.....oil just starts to leak from that seal from old age

Cheers man, yeah it honestly is very clean shell I must say, minimum rust only in the usual A pillar section (passenger side). Yeah I'm not sure about this motor, my plan was to use the D15B4 from my mates ED hatch and slap it in, but turns out it only has 1 of 3 bolt holes tapped on back of the block for the half shaft bracket to bolt in, so really got no idea ae.. Previous owner (a mate) is certain he recently did rear main, but it seems too much oil to be a sump gasket..
