So I'm pricing around for engines+transmissions for a swap. I can get a K24A1 engine and a RSX 6-speed locally for about the price a B16 swap would be shipped. My question is, how much more expensive is it to swap the k-series versus the b-series?

Well the wiring, mounts, axles. Search CRXBarts thread. He did a K20 swap into his CRX. If it is a good deal it is probably worth the extra cost.

k24's dont fit under the stock hood, usdm or jdm, 19 mm too tall?

your looking at about 2000 more for only parts to get the motor in and workin correclty...

axles-600 from hasport
mounts-750 from hasport
engine harness- 350 from rywire
your jdm ecu for k-series only way it will start up... is about 250
motor and tranns- about 4000
and like 24 hours of labor..... 600 dollars...

your in for a big suprise...

Base RSX axles will work with the CRX k-series swap.
I know how much the mount kit is.
I know how much the wiring harness is.
Why would I need a 'JDM' ECU?
I already said, I can get the motor+trans for the same price of a B16 changeover.
I wrench on my own vehicles, I don't pay people for labor.

That's fine, I don't mind cutting the hood. The car will end up being a track day vehicle anyway. I can always fab up something to cover the engine later.

you need the jdm or hondata ecu because the usdm one has an immobolizer in it.

If you send your USDM ecu into a Hondata dealer and have KPRO put on it, then yes it will work.....but you cant use a stock USDM computer. But like others have said, you are going to need wiring, axles, mounts........plus stuff for your fuel system, custom or vw radiator, aftermarket header........

What needs to be done with the fuel system?
I see DC Sports makes a header for the swap, will it work with the taller deck of the K24 block?

I dont think you can run the stock fuel system.....but not 100% positive on that. Almost every k swap I have seen, people have aftermarket fuel systems on them. I believe one of the differences is that the K fuel rail doesnt have the FPR on the it, and instead it is in the fuel tank (i believe). And for the header, you would have to contact DC sports about that, or another option is Hasport......both choices wont break the bank.

Don't you at one point have to take it to a shop to have some of the walls cut and moved? I know theres a lot of work to get the mounts in the right places, then the work to get the big *** linkage in your car

There is some clearancing and welding to be done, but that shouldn't be a problem.

if u want to know what kind of work goes into putting a k24 into a crx go to brauningmotorsports.com if u wanna know about swaps theyre the guys to go to..one best shops here in virginia besides inline pro. but definately talk to brauning motorsports on that...ive seen the crx and everything and it can run...thats the best advice that can be given to you on the k-series swap. BTW ur definatley gonna need to butcher up that hood of urs when u do the swap.

Well I know that there is a reputable company working on a CRX hood for the K24. One of there CRX's already has a K24 in it.

You dont have to "move walls" to get a kseries in an EF. You just need to take out the original tranny mount location by drilling the spot welds and bolt up the passenger side mount to the original battery tray mounting holes and weld it up. And you need to dent or cut your rear crossmember a bit to get the tranny to fit....the "big *** linkage" that you are talking about is two shifter cables that you can either drill one hole for them through the firewall or use a modified EG karcept kit. The other two mounts for the swap bolt into the original places, but I do know that you need an additional bracket to get the k24 in an EF, but thats no big deal....i hope that helps.

You're sure they're at the right angle to avoid excessive wear and unusual noise?

I have also read that people are using them on k20a.org but no one really responds with any updates as to how long they actually last. Pretty much they just say they fit, but dont give any follow up experiences with them.

if u want to know what you really need to do the swap u should really ask somebody on this site that has actually successfully finished the swap..and is driving it and use the site i posted u before. BRAUNINGMOTORSPORTS.COM call/email/write a letter or take a trip to their shop...u will not be disappointed..

so far i'm up to 11k in costs NOT counting the supercharger. right now, i'm buying fittings and fuel junk to try to finish up.

don't forget about the radiator. the k-series cars have some fan switch/sensor inside them so you'll need a radiator from one of those cars. i had an rsx radiator but then i got the supercharger so i had to switch to the eg radiator. hasport has a conversion for the sensor, though.

all in all i'll be at about 14k not including the cost of the car.
