Default If i have a D15B1 block does that mean...

..i have the shitty 70hp engine with the mild camshaft and restrictor plate?
i really need to do a full swap. What does a D16a6 usually run?

there's a guy i know selling a full D16a6 with 130,000mi, including the harness, ecu, axles, 5 speed tranny and an extra D16Y8 head for $700 obo.
is that a good deal?

Little steep. Packaged deal should not cost more than all items purchased separately.

Yeah, $700 is a little high, could get a DOHC or SOHC ZC to drop right in for that much. I'm up her in Hanover, PA, I just sold my old a6 for $300, complete swap. 310,000 miles and all and it barely used any oil and ran like a champ. Wish I knew you were looking for one beforehand...

There are tons of write ups about mpfi and mini-me swaps on here.
The bottom end is the same on the d15b1 as the d15b2 and d15b7 If you use a different head and a mpfi intake manifold you will gain hp alot cheaper than an engine swap

And i wouldnt touch ANY d-series engine for 700$

well my d15b1 has been running rich and the head gasket is shot. im also thinking the head may be warped. (making a great canidate for a head swap.)
if i switch out the head and go mpfi.. should i just try and go vtec also. maybe put the y8 head on? or should i just get an a6 head and keep it simple? i was also thinking just running it dpfi with the D16a6.
what's the best set up on the cheap while still getting some hp's out of the deal?

well, if you can find a d15b2 or d15b7 head, it will bolt right they are cheap and looks like you need to take your old head off anyway.
There is a restrictor plate inside your intake manifold, impretty sure you can remove that somehow

then you will be getting about 92 hp assuming all else is good

If you are looking for more than that, and esp vtec, you need the mpfi swap anyway
ill be doing mine soon

its been said before a mini me is not worth the money. its not really that much faster then a single non vtec. but mpfi is definatly worth the money and its really not that much money to do it. and you will definatly feel the difference from dpfi to mpfi. you could be a used b swap for 700.
