Default If I Have $2,000 And Want To Do A Swap Which....

Which do you guys think would be a good swap to get, my funds are limited to $2,000
I could get a b16 for that price.. but not sure which is good to boost..

I plan on boosting a few months after the swap.

So my question is what is a good motor to boost, when your motor funds are limited to around $2,000 give or take

$2000 could get you a complete B16 swap. you would obviously make the most power with that compared to any other swap available for that amount of money.

id say do what im about to do.

build a d series. z6 block, z6 head. 10.5:1 pistons, head studs and maybe like a 100 shot. the pistons will handle it. just make sure the fuel can keep up.

and this should be done relatively cheap since you dont have to buy, a new tranny, mounts, axles, linkage ect..

You could pick up a DOHC ZC and boost that. If you have a good enough tune a ZC can handle up to 200hp on stock internals.

I was thinking about going the ZC route, but then why not spend a little bit more and get a B16?

why get a b16. they are torqueless motors. i would personally get a DOHC ZC and build it, then throw some spray on it and boost it

B16>DOHC ZC

Don't do a ZC they have serious issue with the bottom end letting go with 2K you could do and LS save up some more money and put a VTEC head on it.

LS/VTEC > B16

Agreed Completely. Put in the LS. The once you get more money, buy a vtec head and also have the crank balanced when you are doing the head swap that way the LS can rev to 7.5k rpm. Then save up some more money and go turbo.

you cant just put a vtec head on a stock LS block. the rod bolts cant handle the 8200 RPMS the head is designed to rev to. if you go LS definatley get a B16 tranny. LS trannys are garbage and have stupid long gears.

personally i would do a straight LS with a b16 tranny. you can get a good condition used OBD0 LS motor at a JY for a couple hundred and b16 cable trannys go for like ~300. you could be said and done with that swap for less than 2 grand with some new parts like clutch, mounts etc.

check out hmotorsonline.com for swaps. you can get a JDM LS longblock for like 750+shipping or even a B20 for 650 plus shipping.

B16 heads go for ~400 without a dizzy if you want to do LSV.

exactly you "heard". the only people i have ever heard call the B20 weak are the ones who dont and never have owned one. sure the walls are thinner than an LS but they arent THAT bad. ive seen more success stories about B20's than failures.

LS motors are really easy to come by, i dont know about in cali but around here i can get them everywheres. check out hmotors youmight be close enough to pick one up and save on shipping. $750 for a low mileage JDM LS isnt too bad.

you'd be more happier with a ls or a gsr and boost....and your stock motor could be fun too..but its what ever you want..

im turboing my d16a6. just throw a new head gasket and a set of ARP headstuds and your good to go. 200WHP stock internals not a problem if you tune it.

holy hell.. how much would headstuds and head gasket cost me ?? and at how much psi.. and would you be running a t25 turbo ??

yea i want an LS.. but im still undecided.. but if i can make that much whp with the motor i have now.. and spend half as much.. i might go that route.. but like i said.. im still undecided..

thanks everyone for your opnions..
