Re: i heard tokicos blow out easy (CRXRACER0069)
because people are comparing them with the kyb agx, gives the blue a bad rep. my bro has a used blue setup with a 2.5" drop. been on the car for about 3yrs now.

You are right about that.
The Tokico Blues or HP's are better than stock, but are not designed to handle springs with a high spring rate like skunk2. I have the GC and the Tokico blues and it doesn't like it very much either. Although they can handle my higher spring rate, they can't handle it when I lower my car past 1". The shock travel is minimized and the Blue's are not designed to handle that. I've had my shocks for about 2 years and they have not blown yet. I had them for 1.5 of the 2 years on ST lowering springs and they handled great. I currently have them on my GC lowered about 1" on all fours and they handle good, but if I go lower than that they get real bouncy.

i have the same setup with 1.5 inch drop. i always thought it was the blues. are the skunks really that stiff? should i raise it to 1.25? my ride is stiff AND bouncy as hell.. btw cant hang too well, hung better with the ST springs. any ideas on making my ride softer?

Re: i heard tokicos blow out easy (SuperCivic)
What is the spring rate of your H&R's? Are they linear or progressive?
I've had nothing but good luck with the Illuminas. My 90 CRX currently has 450# springs up front and 350# springs in the rear with Illuminas. So far so good, I'm only worried about the fronts.
However, my old 86 has Illuminas on it along with the full "Mulholland Drive" suspension kit JR offered back in the day (torsen bars, sway bars, everything). The Illuminas are damn near 10 years old and have never given me any trouble.
For a street car/daily driver, I don't think you can beat the performance of the Illumina's for the $ spent.

Re: i heard tokicos blow out easy (EF'n Fast)
Skunk springs ARE really that stiff. 500 lbs / 400 lbs. It's also the same part for 88-00 civic, meaning you're using the same coilover as say a 2600 lb newer civic. Kiss your body roll goodbye...
I've got Skunk 8Kg springs in the front of my B16A CRX and Ground Control 350# springs in the rear with illuminas. The ride is firm, but not too stiff....
