Re: I got a question pertaining to the motor in my Rex...
There should be no reason you should be able to take an LS in a rex with that motor.
I mean, maybe you scored with something and got a stock single that makes some power.
I have no idea.
the LS tranny may be long, but a CRX SI tranny with that motor shouldn't pull on the LS.
Nice find either way(:

To an extent I would agree with you..
Let's say that this is a Single Cam ZC, it's output numbers figurately compare better to an LS's (Stock), at least when compared to another Non-vtec single cam. With no bolt ons (Not evena cold air intake or headers) My boy's LS's crank numbers would be ball park of 122-25 whp..the same torque wise, substantial, especially in a CRX, however..
My motor has bolt ons, nothing super, still, substantial...
1-Greddy Header (Let's figure this in for a 2-6hp gain as I've seen similar headers grant that figure on the dyno)
2- 2.75 full exhaust/cat back system (Let's figure 7-11hp gain on this one)
3. AEM Cold air intake (A miniscule 3-6hp gain at best)
The miniscule benefit of an MSD Blaster kit and 6AI-Ignition box, Race wires, even the fact that I run it on premium...
Let's say POTENTIALLY, meaning if you factor in the greatest possible outcome for each bolt on, there in lies the potential of a 25-28 hp bump over stock Single Cam ZC numbers, which would very well, at least from a horse power standpoint, put the motor in the ranges of a stock LS, as far as Wheel Hp figures.
YES he'd probably have some torque advantage, but would it be substantial? If persay I Launched better, My tires have greater traction, My Rex is a few scant points lighter then his own, I lose less power during shifting, My ratio's are shorter....things that can bridge a possible 5-9lb-ft torque difference???
I mean we can stop bench racing, lol...I can try to talk him into another set of runs and you can see for yourself, he's sour about it as is, but I think i can talk him into it.

add a z6 intake manifold and a cam you will question if its still a sohc zc/a6 lol. these d-series motors always surprise people why because most skip these and go right into dohc which is fine but they have potential. my stock zc with bolts pulls on my boy's stock ls with bolt ons DA nothing new. could be gearing and the fact that the d16a6/sohc zc is so underrated. actually gearing is sorta similar to the ls cable transmission .
the a6 intake manifold is crap move up to a z6 like i mentioned msd **** crap get rid of it.

It's easy for some of you to make fun of peoples tattoo's over the internet. I don't think it's very funny. I'm sure you wouldn't be laughing if he was in your face...

I just dislike the practice. Don't get me wrong, the Fast Forward button is definitely a good insurance for when the situation arises that you come against someone who "BUILT" a badder set up then you..
But had you done it right the first time, you wouldn't need one? Me personally, the individuals I HAVE run against that had nitrous set ups and ultimately still lost usually approach me after it's over with the "surprise" from having not Trump Carded the win like "Damn dude, good ****.." and it makes me go ---- Oh you were RELYING on that bottle????
*Shrugs*
Don't get me wrong, i'm sure that there is serious tuning and and complex steps to running a "Good" nitrous set up (Given it's being done properly) but me personally, I have a belief that any and all power add ons should have a mechanical element to it. Augmentations that are LIKE car parts in their dynamic, not Automotive Steroids.
Just my belief, not saying i'm RIGHT, it's just how I feel.

So people really like the Z6 manifold, but if you can get one, get a Y8 intake manifold. It's the unofficial "Type-R" D-Series intake manifold. Paired with a B18 throttle body port-matched to the IM opening... few more horses up top. It's just a really big open intake, and it bolts on, just make sure to get one without the "cold-start assist" or plan on plugging it.
