How do I Install cruise control on B18 Civic Si?
I can't find anything specific to installing cruise control on an EF with a B swap but I have to make it happen! Ha ha! I'm driving from Illinois to California to have my car shipped to Hawaii, that's correct, I did sell everything I own but my EF still comes with
So anyhow, I have read some really good walkthroughs on installing it with the stock D series, just taking it out of a sedan. I can follow that, but before I go make this attempt, I'd like to hear from someone who has either done this or seen it working etc.
Even if no one has, is there any reason you can think of that it wouldn't be doable because of the b swap? I will put together a write up after it's said and done in exchange for some brainstorming help.
I get that cruise control takes the "fun" out of driving it, but my last 9 hour drive took the "fun" out of it and left me with a pretty sore right leg ha ha!
Thanks a ton!

Cruise control is an awesome upgrade on these cars. I did it with a B16 crx, it was not terribly hard. Wiring is a snap if you have most of the donor harness. I got around the pedal swap by using only the piece that connects the cable. I cut it down and made a notch to fit the throttle body. There is really no difference D or B as the actuator normally goes to the gas pedal.

I'll probably understand what you are talking about once I get a look at it, so you can just remove whats needed from the donor pedal assembly and put it on the current pedal assembly? Then you cut the cable shorter to attach to the throttle body? I appreciate the help. Any little problems you ran into that I can avoid?
If you happen to have any pictures from installing it that would be awesome.
Thanks again, glad to know someone has done it.

So I went to the scrap yard and found plenty of accords with cruise control and one 96 integra. Are the parts in these useable for my setup?

I personally feel that the dreaded aftermarket might be the most accurate, easy, able to hide switches, most compact, less aggro than anything cobbled together from various cars. Many years ago, dealt with all aspects of electronics, new stuff is easy, compact, and most of all inexpensive. It will work all of the time when asked. JMHO

Aftermarket is without a doubt easier, but being that I'm casually restoring the car to oem original, it won't cut it for me ha ha! Appreciate the suggestion though.

The civic sedan is the donor car you want, LX or EX. It can be done in a weekend, the oem setup works great. You need the steering wheel, with control ring and cancel cam underneath, the main cruise switch, control module, actuator with cable, and a minimum of the gas pedal linkage. To do it right is the whole pedal swap but I did not go that route. You don't need to shorten the cable, it connects to that linkage at the gas pedal, or directly at the throttle body on my car. I found a universal cable bracket for the manifold. Otherwise you need to drill a hole in the firewall and notch it for that cable.
All that said, I do have a spare setup. You will need to lengthen some wires, PM me if you are interested.

I had one on a 90 Si hatchback wired to a factory EX civic(or accord) steering wheel w/ CC buttons. Looked and worked like factory. Here's a pic, pardon the missing cluster bezel, I was doing a DC2/DB8 cluster swap at the time.

I wish I wasn't an oem nut or I would go aftermarket, I've got two months to get it installed and working before the Iowa to California drive.

i'm doing it right now in my hatch, i am using a 90-91 cluster cover for my gsr cluster so i opted to use an 88-89 defroster switch and move it down to one of the blank spots on my dash. oem IMO looks the cleanest, although i wish i could retain my si steering wheel. I also went ahead and am swapping pedals to the lx ones as well

The oem civic sedan setup is the best. Last I checked there were only 1 or 2 aftermarket options and one implicitly said it did not work with Honda for whatever reason. Also the aftermarket are vacuum operated where the civic setup is all electric. The cost in parts is about the same if you do it yourself. The lx wheel is the same size as the Si, and looks better if you ask me.
