How is a D-series Linkage Bar suppose to look on the tranmssion end?
hi HT ..i have a 91 civic d-series... and im looking at my linkage bar from underneath..It looks like its open or gap between the bar and transmssion ...Does anyone know if its suppose to look closed or open???

One bar is on a pivot, the other is attached to a rod that slides in/out and twists. Not sure what you mean by it looks open.

i know one of the bar doesnt move..but the other one when i put it in neutral ..its looks open in other words the rubber part isnt touching the tranmssion... which i think its suppose to

I think that's the actual seal which (please correct me if I'm wrong anyone) should stay in place, flush to the transmission surface. I remember replacing mine when I rebuilt my transmission and it was an extremely tight fit.

Yeah if you're refering to the rubber boot it should stay flush with the tranny as 24TEN mentioned. You should be able to push it back into place, there should be a ridge/ lip you'll have to push it over which holds it in place.
Its possible the boot is cracked though and wont go back.

that boot gets cooked by the close proximity to the exhaust and exposes the friction pin joint. replace the boot (make sure to replace the friction pin after removing it).
