I've been looking all night and can only find conflicting answers.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of intake to order for my swap that is going in in a week or so.
I'm putting a 91 JDM B18B with a B16 trans into a 91 STD hatch.
I would like to not have to relocate the battery, and am open to a cai or short ram.
I've heard 88-91 si intake, 99-00 si intake, and 90-93 integra intakes have been used before, but havent found anything very clear.
I've also seen the ones specifically made for ef's with B swaps, but I'd rather not spend an arm and a leg for an intake pipe.

i have a b18b in my car and am currently using the stock intake i purchased when i had the original d16a6. so just pick up one for an 88-91 civic and you'll be good to go.

aem makes a hybrid for our chassis for the b swap. but pricey

First off, are you sure u have a "jdm 91 B18b" because b18b's came out in 94. You most likely have a b18a (90-93). Here is what i have, stock air box (trimmed down) and a 90-93 integra intake pipe. But this is because I used this set up to ref my crx.

If you go with anything from a 94-01 (any b-series motor) you will need to relocate the battery because those cars have the battery in a different location. And those intake do not curve around where the battery is located on an ef chassis. You can also use any aem Intake from a 88-91 civic/crxand you will be ok.

I hope you mean to use a stock air box? Cause my battery is in the stock location.......

An AEM is not necessary and they are a waste of money get an Ebay kit for a 8-91 civic throw the filter away and buy a nice K&N with shipping and everything you should still be under a 100 bucks. AEM's are nice but they really don't make any more power, its a filter on a stick! LOL

if your talking about where to trim, yes i said to trim the stock air box. there is nothing wrong with getting aem intakes, i have one and like to keep my car "smog legal" for if there is a chance i get pulled over i wont have any problems with cops seeing that those crappy ebay intakes are not smog legal.

as far as the "hybrid intakes" that aem sells, those things are not smog legal, so if you are in california i say dont buy those just buy the non-hybrid intake for your car.

I live in Ohio and I'm not worried about smog. I already dont have a cat so i dont think the intake will do much more...

My original plan was to ebay the pipe and get a nice filter, but i thought i should make sure first.

So any 88-91 civic pipe will work? Cai, or short ram?

after market pipes will fit. doesn't matter if its a cold air or short ram intake. don't get an integra one unless you plan on doing some modifications to it.

I am in the process of putting a B18A1 (93 LS) into my 91 CRX. Like "CRX si-r" says, Just trim back the pipe that plugs into the tube going to the intake about 3-4 in. (pre-fit then cut) I used the 93 Integra's tube and it works just fine. You want to use the tube B18's tube because there are some extra vacuume line plug-ins on it that you should need. (not sure if the d series tube will actually fit on the b series intake, didnt try)

As long as the intake is from a 88-91 civc or crx you are OK. Cold Air should be fine but I haven't tried one yet.

90-93 integra intakes are to long even though they curve like EF's.

I just completed a B18a1 swap and am using the stock 88-91 Si intake tube and box (with K&N filter).

I didn't need all the vacuum hoses, but if I did I would have used the Integra tube as it has the additional holes you'd need for this - as Lead_moose said above.

The Si tube fit onto the stock B18a1 throttle body just fine, it only needed a bit of lube and a bit of convincing.
