help for friend: battery light is on
alright im just postin this for a friend that wants me to ask for suggestions to all the problems that could lead to it...
his battery light jsut randomly started coming on... and staying on... i told him its most likely his alternator not chargin up the battery unless his battery is old...
he bought a new battery and the light is still on ...
so is that basically telling us he has a bad alternator???
idk bout obd0 cars or w/e but since he changed the battery does he have to wait for something to reset to turn the light off or anything??
thanks for the help.

Re: help for friend: battery light is on
The battery light while driving most strongly correlates with a failing alternator. Like the person before said, get it tested and take the test results with a grain of salt. they spin them up to about 3000 rpm, which is a valid test if you drive a 1970 chevy, but if they can't test it above 3k rpm, then just ignore the results and get a different one.
oh yeah, and have fun getting it out. i find the "under the intake manifold with speedo cable and intake removed" method to be the simplest, but your mileage may vary. remember, patience is a virtue

Re: help for friend: battery light is on
check your connections to the alternator then go from there mine came on and it was just the wire coming from the battery a little loose recrimpt it back on and its good now

Re: help for friend: battery light is on
i had this problem in my last crx after doing a swap...battery was brand new optima, alternator was used...did a test on the battery and alternator...alt was putting out spec voltage around 14.3v or so but battery light still came on...then out of nowhere the alt dropped voltage below 9v...i charged the battery thinking it might help, it did for a few days...then i checked the alternator again and sure enough, bad...replaced it and the light when right off
best bet is the alternator, could have some bad wires in the system though...do a check
