oooo, now you are getting picky, hehehe.

To see which bulbs you need to pull out, just remove one at a time and shine a light through the backside. You will then see what lights up on the gauge face.

IMHO the pick miguey310 posted a link to is the cleanest cluster I've seen on a EF. looks like I might just go white in the end, blue for now since the bulbs are here! I'd like to see a pick of how the matrix LEDs look in our clusters, because I'm worried about light dispersion from an LED vs regular bulbs. the dash in the link is stock bulbs, so that might be the best choice for me.

90-91's use just 74's , and you need to figure out how many you need, so you should look before ordering anything.

ok here's a pic of a cluster now which would be changed ?

Just remove your cluster already, its really easy, Find the 4 screws on the cluster cover/hood, 2 of them are towards the windshield and have plastic covers that pop off, 2 are below the cluster near the steering column. remove the cover unpluging the switches if you have any.
then 4 more obvious screws are on the inside, and unpluging the wiring as needed.

you'll have to do it eventually. then just do the flashlight trick as mentioned earlier by me and others.
Good luck

I got my camera back today so I will get some pictures of the white LED's tonight.

btw I'm having trouble posting pictures (yes they are hosted), the best I can do is post a link for some reason.
Is the format like this ?
My ps3 browser sucks, and i'm forced to manually type in those format / prefix things.
so can anyone confirm that?

I can't seem to find any right now, but the light was very even and consistent, and just as bright as the stock cluster.

you can get fairly cheap LED dash bulbs at truck stops and they work really well

Sorry guys, I will get those pictures up tonight, I was busy last night.

I aslo strongly recommend getting quality LED's and not whatever a truck stop has in stock.

All LED's are not equal.
another tip I can give is that heat ruins LED's, so make sure NOT to install LED's next to hot " regular" bulbs.

I don't have a pic of when I did my stock cluster, but I do have a pic of my Teg cluster that is in the car now. Very different though because the light dissipation in the EF cluster is shitty, and the needles are not back lit.

Sorry about the blurry pic I cant seem to setup my camera correctly, a tri pod would probably help.

Anyway here's my cluster with the white "matrix 2" LED's that are in the link I posted earlier

BTW my redline on the tach Is very bright because I sanded the paint off of the back side to let light shine through, but I regret doing that. I have even tried to revert it back to how it was a few times but it came out looking terrible. so dont mess with it unless you really want to.

sorry its honestly the best pic I got from far back

Heres my dome light too Which I mentioned earlier, its atleast 4-5 times brighter than stock. the bulb is the 48 led High Powered SMT Array (31 mm) festoon, from the site I linked to earlier.

This bulb above is actually a bit different, but this pic shows the festoon part (which is the part that plugs into the dome light.

this kind of car is old, and it should stay old.

its not like you drive at night wanting to know the exact rpm you're driving on

True but with the right bulbs which disperse the light evenly it doesnt matter, yes with regular forward shining LED's EF clusters look terrible, but LED technology has come a long way in the past 5 years.

And look again at the EF's needle's........ theres nothing wrong with how they are lit. seems nice and bright to me!

Miguey310, please stop asking for me to hand feed you, please. listen i've given you all the info you need already. You NEED to go take it apart or I have a feeling it might not come together for you. Again this is really really really really really really straight forward, simply take it apart and it will be blatantly obvious. use the flashlight technique, go back and re-read the thread for a description of it.
Thanks and best of luck to you.

Yeah you can, just be careful when ordering LED's that are too long. Its been a while but I think the tri power bulbs fit EDIT: No they dont fit into the stock housing. But you can make them work if you want, With some modification I was able to get the longer matrix bulbs to fit as well. tri power bulbs tend to burn out extremely prematurely,
Another thing to consider is that the heater control doesnt have many bulbs, so its very important that the LED you get disperses light as opposed to one that just shines a narrow beam.

As for not having a tach, yeah get a cluster with one (I think other models have tachs too) just make sure to get to correct year because there are differences in the wiring. 88-89 are the same and 90-91are the same.

Okay I was wrong about this, I had actually put the OEM bulbs back in, except for the ring around the cigarette lighter, and I had forgoten about it.

So i just put some white led's in the heater control panel (my 91 civic uses 2 # 74 bulbs, im not sure about other models) and it does look better but it has a bit of a blueish color (thats just how white led's look) more so than the cluster.

The slots that the bulbs go into are pretty shallow. I actual glued a 1/4 inch section of hose over the bulb slots so i could stick a longer bulb in. the bulbs fits snugley in the hose.
I can post pictures if anyone want me to.
