Default Fuel lines and external pump

Hi,

Im getting closer and closer to having my B18 installed into my Civic EF 91 UK model.

The UK model came with carbs and no efi or fuel pumps in the tank etc

I know i can get a CRX tank with a pump and go that route but they are getting harder to find.

Would I just be able to fit a external pump in the engine bay on the end of the original lines ?

is the smaller line a full return line to the tank ? as not 100% sure

Once i have the fuel system sorted... then come the headache of wiring it up !!

Thanks

The fuel pump should be as close to the tank as possible and mounted fairly low. I have no idea about the carb version of the 2nd gen so I don't know what you will need to replace but I would try and replicate the OEM system as close as possible. The fuel lines may not even be the same same and I can only assume you don't have a return line. I also assume the fuel filter will not work as carbs don't require the pressure nor flow that fuel injection requires. You will need to do some more research on what the differences are and I would start by looking at part numbers and service manuals.

The fuel lines are different diameters to the EFI models. On the carb you'll have feed, return and vent. Use the largest diameter for your feed, the second largest for your return and the smallest for your vent. There are different pump types that will dictate where you put them, some wont be able to draw from a big distance.

I agree with @TacoCat - you want as short of a distance of hose as possible that is under negative pressure (suction), which is why most fuel injection setups have the pump in the tank - so the majority of the fuel line is under positive pressure.
