Error Code 19... Was sold an auto ecu, when I specifically requested a manual ecu. Please help
Here's the deal. I bought an ecu a few weeks ago. I was assured that it was from manual tranny civic. I am getting an error code. It flashes long x2, and then 9x quickly. Since there is no 29, I am assuming that the first long flash is to denote the start of the error code display. I then got the ecu part number to check it out since the 19 code said auto tranny ecu:
Well I ran the ecu part # and it is for either a 94 or 95 automatic sohc vtec
Pn# 37820-P28-A52761-328932
IS there any way I can use this ecu. I dont know if the guy will give me a refund.
I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he assumed incorrectly when he sold me the ecu. That is why I am not going to call him out, or slander his name. If i can get this one to work fine.... If not I am going to see if he will refund my money.
So is there anything I can do to make this ecu work, or should I just get a manual tranny ecu????
Thanks
Steven

there is always a solution: get it chipped... this shop i go to will take in ur ecu and give u a chipped one no matter auto or manual.after it is chipped urs or the new traded one it will work, if ur problem is an auto ecu in manual car.

true, but htink about it, why would you purchase a new ecu, just to take it in and get it chipped.....if he was going to do that, then he wouldhave taken his original in in the first place......that is the same as paying twice as much for something.......i'd see if he'd take it back and give you the right one....

Conversion from automatic to manual
Between the ROM and the side of the ECU case are a number of jumper resistors labelled with RP. Remove RP17 and
install a jumper across RP18.
Found this in my Hondata user manual. This was for a usdm obd 1 ecu.

Well the guy that i bought it from told me to give him a call. I am gonna see if he will refund my money before I go and cut and hack the ecu up.
Thanks for the responses.
