the water vapor will get sucked in and temporarily fill the leak thus changing the idle. if the leak is big enough and enough water gets sucked in it will affect the combustion too.

Re: Engine at idle is bouncing between 1000 and 1500 RPMS
So, I cleaned the IACV.. and at first the idle issue went away, and then the engine bogged way down to 500 RPMs and then it died.. I adjusted the throttle and it started bouncing again, but not nearly as bad. It is now bouncing between 1000 and 1200, if I turn it down even a hair it plummets straight to 500. I have not done anything with the fitv yet (hopefully this weekend). I also noticed that after cleaning it good the hoses went on super easy, I clamped them as they were before. Wondering if that is a new leak. I'll keep you all posted, and I appreciate the assistance and advice.

So cleaned the IACV bout a week ago.. and now the problem seems intermitant. As I stated before I was unable to take it all the way apart because the allen screw (that is what it looked like) was stripped. Debating on soaking it in a solution.. saw new ones are 200+ dollars and I am pretty strapped right now.. any suggestions?

Re: Engine at idle is bouncing between 1000 and 1500 RPMS
here is a good troubleshoot!
sounds like u got a vaccum leak issue or related!
Unplug your IACV on the back of the intake manifold while the car is running if the car stays running then you have a vaccum leak inthe manifold.
**if this is the case plug back in the IACV and get some brake kleen and turn the car on and spray all the inlets on the manifold injectors hoses ect when the motor bogs down when u spray that object with brake kleen found your leak!
If not make sure the flathead screw on the throttle body is securly fastened as tight as it will go they come loose easily! LMK IF SOLVED UR PROBLEM

Re: Engine at idle is bouncing between 1000 and 1500 RPMS
Sat I took the whole throttle body off and cleaned it and the FITV. I let it idle for a bit and it didn't help much if any. I sprayed the brake fluid around the hoses and joints and could not find any difference. Ended up not driving her on Sunday. Then this morning it hardly bounced at all, maybe 100 rpms. Not sure if it intermittant and that is why or not.. Going to drive it for a few days, and if starts up again thinking I best buy a IACV since cleaning it is what caused it to go from always to intermittant.
