i was wondering if any of you were having trouble using this fuel pump. i run the 255 walbro on my crx and i have just burnt out my second one. i notice when i have less then a 1/4 tank of gas or make sudden stops the fuel pump wines louder. any feedback would help.

If the tank is low and you slam the brakes the gas moves around and the pump starves then not only will it whine louder, but it will also kill the pump. I'm on my 3rd stock pump in my civic. One was dead when I bought her, the second died from me running it too dry too much.

You didnt burn it out, its a high pressure fuel pump, and it requires having more then half a tank of gas in the car at any point in time in order to work properly.

I don't know if this suits your particular case, but in many instances with oem and h/p fuel pumps, the create heat. It's an electrical motor that constantly runs at full blast. Usually the fuel in the tank is what keeps it cool. If you regularly run the tank low, the pump itself could be overheating. Hope that helps!!

When I used to have my B16 crx with a walbro I always used it at 1/4 above E most of the time because of racing and I didnt want too much weight.
Nothing happend...It did whine loud though.

Are these pumps that much of a problem???? Ive had the original pump since I drove it off the lot and I'm about to install the same (walbro) pump for my turbo, but half a tank?? are you serious? geez maybe I should just keep the stock pump; no problems there...

Bah, i've had my 255lph for like 8 years, no problem. And if installed correct, can still run down the tank level, i always fill at a 1/4 tank myself.

Re: (camo_crx)
I've had mine for years, and it gargles when it starts to get around 1/4 tank. I've ran it LOW a lot of times and it hasn't quit on me yet. Surprising though, because I remember installing it when I didn't know ****, and the adaptor kit sucked ***. I've been thinking about putting my stock pump back in, but I guess as long as it keeps going with no problems I'll keep it in.

no. Not at all. Something is wrng with this guy's wiring or something. I had my 255lph walboro in my b16 crx for half a year before I turboed it with no problems, and its been over a year now and no problems. I run mine down to E every week. No problems yet. It always hums. That's a normal sound you hear.
btw: I tried to install mine without the adapters and it wouldnt even go in, so you have to use the adapters for it to even go in right.

Re: (B16CRXT)
What about wiring? These pumps have a higher current draw. Wires get hot? I've seen on other sites about using a 30 amp relay at the pump with a heavy gage wire to the battery to supply the pump, then using your existing "hot" wire for tripping the relay.
If you starve an electric motor for current, it will fail prematurely.
I need to know also because I've got one to install in my CRX.

See what you think about this. I don't have experience with either pump, and I am sure some of you do, but I was just doing some research and came across this...http://www.theoldone.com/components/fuelpumps/

HolyCrap. I feel like we were seperated at birth. I have a 255 walbro and i can't get it too go past a 1/2 tank!. I used the Stock sock when i put it back on. Do you think tank position plays a part in this?

Re: (fastcrx420)
I just remember mine being really shitty, and didn't fit well so I just smashed it in. I didn't get a correct adaptor or anything. It's been on my list of things to re-do.

Install it correctly, and there should NEVER be a problem. I installed mine near a year ago with no problems. I frequently bring it into the red. I have heard about problems with the 255lph high presure pump though. I just have the 255lph pump.

my pressure won't go over 20 PSI with the 255 Pump. Bump everyone ; is it smaller than OEM pump? Mine is. I bought it on ebay but it says walbro on the pump and it was definitely new.

That is not true. You will know when your pump is running dry because your motor will quit or at least sputter because you have no fuel. If this is the case and you still have a bunch of gas in the tank, then you have pick-up issues that need to be addressed.
