CRX SI d16y8 vs 90 Civic DX hatch B18b1
CRX SI d16y8 Vtec 127hp "mini me"
2174lbs
vs
90 Civic DX b18b1 143hp NON-Vtec
2104lbs
My cuzin has the CRX and I have the Hatch, We both have the engines but there not in yet, we was just wondering who would win?

B18B hatch. It should be close though. Take it to a track and find out. And the B18B1 has 142 hp Theoretically the Mini me should have more compression than a standard Y8, and thus more power. What transmission does the B18B have?

ok cause me and my cousin were reading some other forums about people with y8 swaps and said they take b18b1's and b16's all the time so we were just wondering.

There are alot of factors that go into it actually...
Some are:
IF the motors are stock, if they have the same mods... weight, compression, tires, yadda yadda,
Just a bunch of **** that would determine which would be "quicker"
But if they were lets say... both stock motors, in the same car.. Lets say crx si.
I would have to say the bigger displacement b18 motor, more power/torque.
Some people will say differently, some will agree.
I have had both in my 91 si, and i drive the LS motor i have in now just like i drove my old sohc vtec. And the LS surely picks up and goes a hell of alot quicker than the old y8.
but thats just my .02

I'm aware of that. Since B16A's and B18's are close engines in terms of speed anyways. Well, generally B16As are quicker, but the point is that a sohc vtec is underrated, and compares well to the "lower" B series engines.
