Are CRX HF motors interference motors?

Default Are CRX HF motors interference motors?

Belt broke on my HF putting in a ZC but are they interference motors just wanted to know for ***** and giggles.

yes. i am not aware of a honda engine that is non-interfering.

but just because the belt broke does not necesarily mean you broke anything, Ive broke a timing belt on my dohc zc and it didnt bend or bust anything.

I guess you mean by interfering, you mean motors that bust and ben valves when the t-belt snaps or pops off, well i had that happen on my old Dx crx while back and it din't hit anything i don't think.

Yes they are. I lost a D16 and a ZC over the years due to snapped timing belts.

yeah there interference, but theres some factors involved to whether they will destroy themselves when a Tbelt snaps.

THE factor that determines whether anything will be broken is luck. Specifically, it is possible for the cam(s) to come to rest in such a position that none of the valves are sufficiently open for the pistons to hit them. In such a case, no damage would be done. Of course, if you just want to put on a timing belt to get the engine running for the time being, you might try doing a leak down test. This will tell you if you have bent valves. And it can spare you the expense of buying a new belt for a bad motor.

my sister blew the belt on a SOHC ZC - started right up with a new belt.
