those 2 holes a-sport used go all the way through to the engine compartment. The other ones don't.

Just curious, see this lip in this pic.

How many of you would not mine bending it for clearance ? Its really easy to bend, a 5lb sledge with light tapes will get the job done.

I'm sure you could talk to someone that owns these ad they could tell you more about them. I have only heard good things from all the people I have talked to. Try the other thread, I think a few people in there owned them and commented about them.

Here is a rough proto type. This will be going on my car, so the welds are not the best and of course when these are sold, they will be painted or powder coated ( have not decided which one yet )

If anyone is interested email me with the topic fender braces and we can talk.

So what do these do other than add useless weight . I have tracked my car for many years and have never seen the need for more strength in the front.

Add a lot more strength, give a more comfortable feel. These are the only pieces that I have seen make a big difference. Look at everyone that has owned them and all of the people will tell you they felt a difference.

meh, they dont look any stronger to me. mainly for the fact that you are only using one bolt to attach it on the inside. why didnt you use 2 like a sport? and to me that thin peice of mettal wont add any real support. if you want a support there but a bar across it.

just my .02. good work on the construction, they look great.

Did you read a word that I put ? First off that bolt still could be used with my fender braces, I said this is still a proto type. If you you would of caught what I said about that bolt, then maybe you would understand why I did not use that bolt "yet". And the piece I added, is not thin metal. Its thick enough where you could not bend it by hand. I am also gonna be adding more support to my bars.

The a-sport braces use a piece of metal to hold on the bolt, its not really going threw the frame. If I decide not to put the bolt there, that's because I think 1 bolt is good enough. But hey, you can always pay the 280 for the a-sport bar, when I will be selling mine for around 150.

If you want to keep comparing, the a-sport car used rectangle tubing but I use square tubing, square tubing is the strongest shape you can ever have.

If I feel like something will add more strength I will do it. Nothing leaves my hands until I am 100% satisfied, and being a perfectionist, I usually hold on to things.

i was giving constructive criticism man, dont take it like i was knocking it. and yea it might be thick enough to not be able to bend by hand but that doesnt mean that the forces exerted by the car cant bend it. a bar would be a lot more effective then a piece of sheet metal.

and i knew it was a prototype, thats why i offered the advice as to that hole. if you just havent done it yet then fine, but it will still be better with it.

and a square is not the strongest shape. a triangle is. of course i doubtyou can easily get triangular tubing.

like i said this is all CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, i am in no way knocking what you are doing. its nice to have someone offer a good product at low cost (especially when its lower then the competition). either take what i say, with a grain of salt, or not at all, doesnt matter, im just trying to help.

Totally understand , yeah triangle tubing is stronger but how many times can you use it in the automotive field you know.

I am working on a few new things to better the brace, but right now I just need to sit back and see how many people are really interested. Saying your interested is one thing, when it comes down to it though, it seems like everyone flocks away.

And about the bolt, I can see where your coming from. I will still try to add that bolt, but if I don't , its not gonna make or break the project. The one bolt that is there, goes completely threw the frame. That bolt will never ever move, unless you get in an accident and bend the frame.

so if that bolt goes all the way through the frame then does that mean you have to drill a hole for the install? 2 holes through the frame would be better just because it will eliminate a rotation axis

and doing that would make it much stronger then the a sport. they only go threw that front side with the hole. all the way through will be way more solid. long bolts though. grade 8 bolts?

SO TRUE. Have some good vouches ready and once you have one complete set assembled, take pre orders. That way you don't have to come out the pocket for XX number of sets that only a few people will buy. Gotta look out for yourself too.

The bolt that I have installed goes threw the frame and into the engine bay, there is a hole already there. So no drilling is required, the other bolt does not go threw, it might if you remove this plastic cover under there. But the plastic cover is hard to get off, and then you would have to remove the wiper cowl ( which is not easy with those kind of clips, they usually always break )

And if you look in this pic

Ok see the hole I'm not using, see how big it is ? Not look at the a-sport bolt that they use. There is no way that bolt is big enough to even touch the frame. So I think that bolt just connects to a little tiny bracket that they provide. Which in my eyes, does not add any strength.

Trust me, I thought about it for awhile, its not like I made the decision in 10 mins. I'm still thinking of ways to make it better though.

what if you weld up a tube on the braket so it goes into the hole you covered. Im still in for a set after I get a few parts I need for my aligment.

But what would the tube do ? Also the tube would have to be small because the bracket needs to slip into another hole, and then you have to maneuver it back there.

I really think that bolt that a-sport uses is just for peoples comfort. I really don't see it doing much.

do you also make a replacement for the front engine support mount bracket, like the z10

(sorryfor the bad pic but its all I have)

its that long support thats located in front of the engine, the drag link bushings go into it
