Default CRX 1.6 16v TURBO project

Check out my CRX, I upgraded it with a garret T3 ballbearing turbo. It's still in construction, but it should be up and running monday with an estimated 200hp.

Damn! Did you do all the fab work on the mani & DP? Looks sick.

The mani runners look pretty thick. Why did you decide to use such wide tubes?

humphhh

I could weld like that too if I wanted too. All I would have to do is get some welding equipment. Then I'd have to learn how to use it...then probably spend years and years practicing. but yah, that doesn't look so hard. hehehe

j/k, that is a sweet looking manifold though. I'm kinda weirded out by the DP though. But yah like dude above me said, keep us updated.

looks like nice piping but why does the DP have that hella bend in it? I thought turbos loved as straight piping as possible

damn man you have some skill there...

ps the dp looks like it has megaphone w/ reversone cone

"Megaphones frequently benefit from the addition of a reverse cone, which tends to extend, and smooth the peak horsepower region of the power curve."

taken from burnsstainless.com

however imo that would be beneficial on N/a powered motor, turbo's like as free flowing as possible. however that depends on where you want the power i guess.

awesome stuff man want to make me a manifold?

Damn..Talk about tight fit..
What radiator do you plan on using?,,And for only 200whp you would have been better off with a log manifold then equal length..

looks good i would have thought it easier to run the turbo the other way, compressor on drivers side... but oh well.

Looking by the pictures its seems like you have a consideable amount of knowledge in welding. If this manifold works maybe you should start making them and selling them. I'm a NA guy so this would be heads up for the turbo junkies. Let us know how it all works out.

Thx for all the replies guys!!

Can't answer all of your questions, but I'll do my best! the dude in the picture is my friend, and he's realy the genious! He made that manifold last year for his car, he's running a crx del sol vti, with same turbo, and has got 282hp on the wheels, so I think the manifold cleary made his point here.
(We are making and selling the manifolds here in Belgium when we have time for it, but because it's custom made, we need the car to make them)

Because lack of space, I had to change the radiator, and take a small one like in de vtecs. My battery will also move to the trunk, because the air filter will take its place.

It might not be much 200hp, but it's a starter, the turbo is good for till 350hp, but that won't work untill I upgrade my pistons etc... I picked same turbo as friend because if I blow up my engine, I'll put a vti in it instead.

UPDATE: We've just finished mounting and wealding everthing, so it's ready for setup. But they can only setup the unichip on tuesday...

grtz

Thats a really sick setup, by why all that work on a ZC motor, WHy not first go with a B18a or B18b (LS Motor) Just a thought. Stronger motor and can handle more boost, et still relativily cheap.
