It should be the same wiring - aside from the gear indicator

GSR guages into 91 CRX

VSS Wiring

no burn on anyone's ingenuity on installing clusters from other model vehicles but I prefer having one that fits without having the ends cut off like the Teggy clusters, or having gap in between the bezel and cluster. I'm just a fan of of keeping it specific to that model year at least. I have the EDM cluster which took some modification but it fits properly.

Then you sir are have misinterpreted. The purpose of a site such as this one is to exchange information and opinions which is what I've done. I think its great that people have taken the time to figured out how to make clusters from newer vehicles fit and function in older models. However I wouldn't do it to mine because I have issues with the fitment. I don't like the look of open space in between the bezel and cluster as well as the ends being cut off due the bezel being a different shape. This is why I opted for the EDM cluster, its an attention to detail thing and this is clearly where our opinions differ. I'm not knocking anyone, I'm stating my preference while admiring the work of others. The majority of people on this site seem to be narrow minded and forever in search of an argument.

im not really a fan of the cut off in the cluster but i needed a tach and my homie sold it to me cheap so im rocking it. i can't argue with bang for the buck as most would call it to where a edm would cost about $250

Don't get me wrong, I'd still much prefer that over a hideous tack mounted somewhere and attracting attention. I'll admit to spending a good amount on the cluster too, I just had the cash when the opportunity came up.

nice... was just about to ask for a picture of a 00 Si cluster installed. looks clean.. is thats on a 4door though?

Im surprised no one has come out with a jumper, like a plug and play, harness for clusters as they do for swaps.. id spend the extra bux to not have to do all the extra wiring!

I just picked up a GSR cluster as well. My friend who gave me the civic had put in a CRX cluster he grabbed off of ebay so he had a tach, but it was a cluster from an automatic. Add the fact he took it apart and bumped the gas gauge (for whatever reason) so it's off and I can't remember which way...

Anyhow, on the EF's, do/should/could you reuse the VSS signal amplifier (#18 in pic)

which looks different than the one on the 4 dr EX etc. Is there an actual VSS wire in the 3dr STD like listed in the above wire guides and this thread: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/wiring-diagram-gauges-2492770/ ? Or is that used for something else (seeing as how the diagram in the last link shows a PGM-FI going to what looks like the amp and the guage its self)

The easiest way to install the EDM cluster is by taking the guts out of your existing cluster and replacing them with the EDM one. No re-pinning required and all the same dummy lights stay the same.

When I get home I'll try and post some pics up of my USDM housing with EDM parts.
