Check engine light - ecu is not throwing any codes
Let's start off wth a little history:
I did a obd0 dohc zc black top swap into my 1990 crx si. I de-pinned the round plug for the si dizzy and re-pinned it into the 2 square plugs on the zc for the dizzy and CPS. I was getting a code 9 so I pinned it down to a bad sensor. Replaces the sensor and the code went away.
Now when the engine warms up the engine check light comes on but the ecu isn't throwing any codes. I thought maybe the lights had gone out so I unplugged the CPS sensor and sure enough code 9 came back. The motor seems like it's lagging in the mid-range around 3k - 5k rpm. I ordered a PG7 ecu. (looking for PM7), but right now I'm running the PM6 from the si. could this be why it's lagging in mid-range? Also I'd like to find out any possibilities why the engine check light would be on but the ecu is not throwing any codes and the light goes and comes when it wants.
I've tried messing with the timing belt. Any adjustments forward or backwards 1 will trigger a code 9 on the exhaust cam gear and codes 4 and 8 on the intake cam gear. The marks look dead on so I don't think it's the timing. I've tried searching these forums but can't seem to find any information about check engine light but no codes being thrown.
The DOHC ZC feels a lot weaker than the stock d16a6 did. I am using the Si tranny also. It feels like it's strong from 2k - 3krpm then you can feel a real bad lag from 3k - 5k then it pulls hard and the motor screams loud until 7k
Thanks for any information in advance
Also I will check over at thezcr.com but right now it looks like they are having database problems

but code zero should be that the light is on all the time or am i mistaken? I have tried another ECU aswell and it gives me the same thing... I guess i'll find out when the PG7 ecu comes.

and the ecm always turns the cel for a second or two when you turn the ignition to run/ign1.

That's the fuel pump priming. Once it goes off, your fuel pump does too.

But the ecu was working fine before the swap. Can an ecu just go bad after a swap? well we'll see what happens after I receive the pg7 ecu
I'm curious, what are the differences between the PG7 and PM7 ecus aside from the fact that one is usdm and one is jdm

OK, I got my PG7 ecu. Still runs rough and weak. Ignition timing is still off. I took apart my Distributor and I found that one of the sensors is off by a little bit. I'll try to draw a picture of it since i can't find a decent pic of the insides of a distribtor and my sister took the camera.
The part that is in the red circle is a little off. It looks like when the cam rotates the rotor. It come across the sensor before it's supposed to. Can that really cause ignition to be off? If so can it cause it to be off by that much? I have 2 other OBD0 dizzys and 1 OBD2 and 1 OBD2 dizzy i looked at them and they are all on thet spot when they click into position. I'm want to know if it can be fixed or do I have to buy another dizzy, which won't be a problem I just want to make sure before I buy. I think I will have to try to hold the si dizzy in place to see if ignition timing will line up and if the motor chokes while it's doing this.
Does anyone have any ideas?

yup your right it is the dizzy!! cause we just finnished a b20 swap in a ef hatch... and we r using a obd0 or obd1 which ever one cause we just rewire it.. neways, when we got ready to drive to i took it around te corner and tryed to take it past 3k and it just bgged out like it was detonating.... so i think your dizzy is going bad...
