Default cant figure this out

my 91 crx has been having problems, when i go to start it it takes a few tries and i have to get on the gas a bit to get it running, then it idles good, then i take it for a ride and it runs fine, then a few minutes later the check engine light comes on and it starts bucking and running bad, if i turn it off it goes away for a few minutes then comes back but the bucking stays, it idles really ruff after its warmed up like slowly climbs to 1k then drops to about 300 and stays around 200-500 then climbs alittle again. never shuts off tho. the code its throwing is o2 sensor, but i just replaced it and took it for a ride and same thing. any ideas? its a d16y7 obd0

taken from another thread:
I was getting a periodic code 1 and it turns out it was in response to a small vacuum leak.

my guess is you have a vacuum leak somewhere that is triggered by some movement in the engine bay.

check all your lines.

or get a vacuum gauge, they're cheap

maybe ill have to check, and you said movement in the engine bay, my motor mount is going so theres alot of movement lol, theres this weird nipple like thing on the tube going from the intake to the head that a bit of air comes out of and i never saw it on any one else car

hello again yes it happened to my friend but first you have to see in your computer what codes are comming out on the bottom of the passenger side foot lift the carpet then with key on motor off check the codes but only when the motor is going bad or when the check engine light comes on because it sounds like its the map or the oxygen sensor

o i forgot to tell u that i am running the same setup the y7 but with diffrent pistons the oxygen sensor should be like if it were an integra da in the down pipe not in headder itself like the rest of the efs

mine only has 1 o2 sensor and its on the header, thats how i got the car, theirs another o2 sensor right before the cat but its not wired up and looks like it might be bad, the check engine light says error code 1- o2 sensor on exhaust manifold which is the one i just replaced

what do you mean? put the good o2 sensor before the cat and hook it up and not hook one up on the header?

im thinking you have a vacuum leak. a tiny one that just leaks from your motor moving sometimes...o2 sensor wont really do anything like that on an obd0 car it just runs in closed loop. i never even ran an o2 in my obd0 b18 crx and never had any problems. you can get a can of starting fluid or carb cleaner and spray it over the vacuum lines with the car running, if the idle changes thats where you have a vacuum leak.

alright ill try that, would a vac leak cause a CEL for o2 sensor since the air/fuel ratio is being messed up?

also for a faster way try to put your hand in front of the mouth of the intake manifold without the intake of course lol if it doesnt die it means that it has a vac leak

when somsthing gets cold it expands and when its hot it shrivels if its causing that much problems it will work but if u remember what the other guy said use carb spray or wd40 to add to it youll be fine

I believe that bad idle is you idle air control valve and possibly a dirty throttle body.

i was driving it again and it idles bad still, and i cant tell if the jerkiness is a problem or if its because the gas pedal is so damn soft for some reason, i barely touch it and its on the floor, its so hard to be smooth on it that it seems to cause the car to jerk really bad, you cant be cruising your either on it or off it
