Icon6 Broken CRX Bigger problem than i thought. Help!

I was driving my 91 crx si, which has some neuspeed lowering springs on it and KYB Agx adjustable shocks so it considerable lower to the ground and i drove over a man whole and bottomed out on it. I stopped and immediately shut off the car and got out and looked. Sure enough all my oil was pouring out all over the ground.

Today i jacked up the front end and saw that the skid plate thing over the exhaust was destroyed and what i think is a transmission mount is broken not to mention the exhaust is dented bad.

I'm pretty certain i either need to take out the cross-member on the front which would mean id have to take off a bunch of stuff. either that or the whole engine to get to the oil pan and the transmission thing.

So what id like to know is which would be easier the engine or the cross member?

Some better pics would help (like on the lift or on jackstands).

Good luck suing the state for dragging your junk on the public road. It wasn't a hazard for a normal, stock vehicle. Not trying to be a hard@$$.

discovered more problems

i took off the front cossmember and then the exhaust. the studs from the header to the downpipe were all bent

the mystery transmission piece was removed and i found out that on the engine block the hole was extremely stripped and where it bolted to the transmission the hole was cracked.
im fairly certain i can drive the car without that piece.
oh yeah and the oil pump pickup got bent to ****.

you will get nothing from the state? You lowered your car so that all of the components were in close proximity to the ground. You really think somebody cares about your car after you physically made this possible?

Yeah, sue for this... then there will be HEIGHT/BUMPER/CLEARANCE requirements for the rest of us...

=P

But damn son, that's some damage. Post of how low the car was?? Or, perhaps that manhole cover was in fact retardedly HIGH and you do have something to point out/sue?

well then following by your logic your car is most likely no longer legal as you have altered the suspension. Check your local and state laws for more info. Regaurdless, what happened sucks but in reality you made it all possible. In the future try to be more careful if you want to ride slammed. If it were easy everyone would do it...

Looks like you damaged the trans, but if the motor/block is damaged then pull it out.

and DUDE you did do some damage, my oil pan looks like that but mines from a brick that fell from truck, but maybe you should raise your car back up a little, prevention is the best way from keeping crap like this from happening to the rest of us

If you did that much damage there's a chance you're lower than the legal limit. A lot of states have ride height laws (or headlight height laws), but they're not usually enforced, as in a cop might not pull you over, but it's still illegal.

I had a friend get money from the state when he drover over a bump with his Integra and damaged his header and front lip. He got money because there was no sign warning of a bump even though there had been construction in the area.
