Axle too short

Axle too short
I replaced the front axles on my 1987 CRX and when I took it out for a test drive it stopped and acted like it was out of gear. When I checked it out the drivers side axle had popped out of the tranny just enough to disengage the splines. I went back to the parts store and we checked the length of the axle against his book and it should have fit. Has anyone had the type of experience?

Re: Axle too short
You shouldn't see any "shiny" part of the axle (the journal where the seal rides).
Also, this may be better to ask in the correct Forum as this is the 1988-1991 Forum. There is a forum dedicated to the Pre-'88 Hondas.

Re: Axle too short
I've been doing some more checking on this and I believe I have the wrong axle. When the retaining ring "pops" in to the tranny the outer end is too short at the spindle end.
